Sound like a fun project Mark... Looking forward to see the tank up and running. It is going to be another beautiful tank

Mark, the spectapure looks cool, I'd be interested to hear if anyone has one, If and when you decide on one let me know I want to piggyback on your order.

yeah it does cost some change, but to me its just more work to plumb another pump and etc. we need a cheaper hobby :D

Mark, you might want to use something larger than a 5g jug for your top-off reservoir. I have a 6g section of my sump sectioned off, and wish I went larger. I'm losing almost 2g/day on my 180g - and that's with T5's in the winter!

I'm using a JBJ top off right now. So far, no problems, and it comes with 2 float switches.

I use a 30g acrylic tank for my topoff via a Kent float valve and I love it. I don't have to worry about topping off for a good two weeks or so.

Thanks for making me feel dumber than I already do! :D Mark, listen to Maximus, the smart guy ;)

i used 200gal reservoir for top off which is located 15' away. spectrapure ultra precise top off will pump at least 30' in distance without any problem.

with a 180gal tank and using 30gal RODI for top off I will use 2 float switch to makesure I have no accident. If your single switch fail 30gal of RODI will lower your salinity in a 180gal tank quite a bit. If you only use the 5gal then single switch is ok since the most you can add to your sump is 5gal RODI.

Jonathan should use 200g reservoir, since he loses 14g/day! :D

Since I have my sump now, I think I will frame my stand so I can put the sump and reactor underneath to see exactly how much room I will have.

Thanks for all of the feeback and great ideas.

My wife left around noon to go visit her familiy in Santa Rosa. That meant I had a couple free hours of my own. I made all of the precuts for my rough stand. Here is a picture for you Jay ;)

After looking at this picture, I really need to do some organizing in my garage one of these days. Sorry about the mess, but here is a little more stand progress.

LOL, I feel you. My wife went to visit her parents today, so I was able to sneak home 5 cherry frags from a local reefer. :D

Keep the pics comin, Mark

Did you go see Erik?

Here is what I finished today

Nice progress, and yes, I visited Erik. WOWEE! :eek2: jawdropping tank. He only lives like 5 minutes from me, so once I save up some money again, he's a short drive from me.
