The three section shots but what they look like with proper use of an expodisc. I am not sure which one I like better, The above with the blue tint is closest to what is seen by the eye.

+1 for the first FTS - tank looking great Mark apart from the issues you have. Hope you find a solution soon. I also use Coral Rx for my dips :)

Your tank is so amazing! Sorry to hear about the recent problem. Best of luck to you and I really hope you don't make the decision to tear the whole thing down.

Which filter?

The one that shows your tank the most realistic, for those not able to see it in person, which conveys the same as if you are there.

I think #1 does that the best right now.

When I think of your tank, I think "intense colors in darkness"

Thanks to a couple great friends, I decided to put a couple items together to see how stable I could get a system in my garage. I have a dettached garage so its temperature is not as stable as I'd like. But, its a start. This is the beginning of my aefw battlestation. :uzi:

I have always said that there is really no middle of the road for me.

I have Jim's old 125 up and running being skimmed by JT's a200-1260 (even though I am only using one pump). I added the water from a waterchange from my display to help start the tank. I will be transferring a fuge from my garage tank this week to help kick start the biosystem.

I will post updates as they are available.

haha

are you setting this tank up so you can have more SPS or is it so you can battle AEFW in it?

i know guys, i was being facetious i was just making a joke about how much mark loves SPS and he might just use this tank as another display.

after the AEFW is gone is that going to be a giant Frag/ QT setup?

:D

Man, that tank sure looks familiar ;)

Glad to see your eradication campaign is well underway

:uzi: AEFW

Hey, Mark. I enjoy lurking on your tank thread. Best of luck on your AEFW battle. Your tank looks amazing.

A couple quesitons:
1. I always thought that FW dips for acros was a no-no. Since you are doing them, I must have been misinformed. Do you always do FW dips for acros or just in this case to help battle the AEFW?
2. Are you actually using different filters on your camera for the FTS shots are is the color adjustment PP? It sounded like you are using filters and was just curious why you would go that route versus PP.

When I fw dip an acro, I already know it is going to be sacraficed for experimental purposes. I know a couple people that do it, but I am not that guy.

As for filters, I use an expodisc for the white balance. That is all I was meaning. Its funny though, that most people like a tank that looks blue. I think for a FTS, a bluer variation is nice, but when doing individual shots, a true representation of the coral is nicer.

hmm, I'm confused by your use of the expodisc. You mean one of these, right: http://www.expodisc.com/products/pr...poDisc_Digital_White_Balance_Filter_-_Neutral

I'm completely new to digital photography, but I thought the expodisc was used by placing it over the lens then taking a photo at the location of your subject. It effectively turns your dslr into a light meter. In a studio setting, this means snapping a shot where the subject would sit, with the studio lights flashing at you. For tank photos, wouldn't this mean taking a shot with the camera in the water?
