I love it man!! Way better! This was just the first trial run. I'm going to add UV 400nm-410nm to these also. But I'll post a video of that here later as well.

Here's the video of me actually replacing the diodes by desoldering and soldering on new and improved 20000k 3watt leds. I hope this helps anyone who is curious about replacing theirs and wasn't sure about doing it. If you have questions just ask.

ah, I was hoping to use a zwave dimmer switch, then I would of been able to program it with the automation hub, doesn't look like that will work.

would be nice to have the fish tank tied into the rest of the home automation stuff.

2 of the 165s would work if you remove the optics on the ends to get better spread

I considered recommending that too but with 24" depth it would be better to leave them on and go with 3 units. Unless there is no concern with growing stuff at the bottom of the tank.

Great video, very helpful.
Where do you buy your diodes from? Id love to change some of my yellowish whites out. Do you notice more shimmer with the 20k installed?

I got mine from ebay. There's a ton out there just make sure to get either epistar LEDs or bridgelux. Some others work too but those are the name brand ones from china. And make sure to get 3watt and not the 1 watts.
They did give me that extra shimmer effect. Taking the optics off really gives you more shimmer effect though.

Sweet! Let us know how they turn out. And make sure to get only the diodes and not with any star base or anything.
