As Scott said - "to help out". US breeders have rather substantial experience in spawning rare and endemic species of clowns, some have raised fry.
After scanning some reliable info about Oman, it seems rather obvious that the country cares about its' international public perception/image and is very hospitable. It is also rather reasonable of them not to be willing to simply sell Oman clowns to overseas collectors. Nobody disposes of national heritage that way....
As demonstrated by ORA, captive fish breeding is profitable, if the market is cornered correctly, and there is general public agreement about purchasing captive bred species of fish and corals. Also, look at the folks in AU, they made seadragons and other animals available to public aquariums in the US, for example, for research and breeding...
There are precedents of international cooperation/exchange, there is experience, there is money to make sure next generation will see Oman clowns with their own eyes.. All power to people living today
