Meanwell LDD driver: for those who want to dim to 0 using Arduino

Final, final, final version. (1.5)
-- Remapped the pins for GND and DCIN+ so that each 2-pin header has both pins mapped to the same NET (you can use one or both screws on each terminal, depending on your preference).
-- Swapped the 2-pin screw terminals on the bottom of the board for 4-pin terminals (so that the hole spacing is 3.5mm for all four holes) -- this way you can use a 4-pin terminal, or 2 of the 2-pin terminals that slot together. This also freed up room for slightly better labeling.
-- Better labeling of LED outputs (+ and -)
-- Reworked the DCIN+ bus slightly so that it doesn't throw DRC errors (replaced manually drawn wires with creatively routed traces).

I need 8 of these for my project, and will probably want a spare or two given my lack of soldering skill. If anyone wants to piggyback onto the order to share costs, I'm happy to prorate the shipping from itead studios. I'm not in a hurry, since my LDDs are on backorder at Powergate LLC, but if enough other folks want in on an order with faster DHL shipping, I'll do that too. If you're interested let me know by the weekend, when I'll place an order for however many are needed.

This fits in a 10x10 board, so the ballpark cost with fast shipping from China and reshipping from my place in Idaho is $4-$5 a pop.

O2 you have any pics of your boards in black or white you can show us.

Here's one that I had made in white with a black silk screen. I've got some 8up LDD-H boards coming in soon that were done in black. I'll post some carefully edited photos of them after they arrive.

I smoked two 700h's yesterday, funny how they blow a puff of smoke from the same spot. Right between the m and the w. glad I have a lot of extras. Soldering takes forever. Ugh. O2 your boards are working great. I appreciate them.

Hey I'm glad you like them! Bummer with the smoked LDD's though. Did you accidentally plug them in back wards on the PcB ? I did that once - now I pay careful attention because of it.

No. I had two 700s in one ocb and was using breadboard jumpers to test everything and a ground wire accidentally touched a hot. Lesson learned I guess. But I have six extra 700s and five extra 1000s. I buffered my screw up ratio into my purchase price. Lol

so you saying if I order these with you 2 boards would run me $10 (2x5) shipped to me (77038)?

by the way, your OCD is getting worse, that's actually a good thing!

If I can get a couple more people interested, then yes. Right now, I have to order in multiples of 10 from itead. I need 8, and will "buffer my screw up ratio" with two or more spares. If a few more people hop on, then yes, I'll send you two boards for $10. But if you're the only one, I'd rather not order 20 boards and have 10 spares (my screw up ratio will hopefully not be that high).

Anyways, I'm holding off on the order until the weekend, to give anyone who's interested a chance to pool orders -- so with a little luck, more people will sign on.

Here's a photo of an 8up LDD-H PcB that I should receive from SeeedStudios, sometime this week. I had to remove the top and bottom silkscreen layers from the image, as this design was made as a prototype product for a LED supplier that will have to remain "unnamed", as they are not a sponsor on this forum.

What size is the board? No resistors? I have say for me, my eyes still like the blue

It's a 10cm x 10cm. Yeah- no pull down resistors. The controller that will be used with this PcB, already has the Pull downs on it's output side. I did this design as a prototype only, so I'm sure additional "Bells & Whistles" will be added to it in the future, if needed.

You can add me for 2 boards. Nemo and I work together.

Man, you guys are still cranking out designs? I have not even been able to keep up with this thread for the last month I've been so busy. Power to the LDD!

LOL Busy? That's no excuse! This thread demands constant attention!,"True LDD believers" FIND the TIME to crank out evermore complicated designs in the pursuit of LDD Nirvana. LOL

Welcome back RRasco! Now repeat after me - "Hi- my name's RRasco and I'm an LDDaholic". "It's been 30 days since my last meeting........" LOL

I think it has been 30 days since my last meeting. Even my tank was slightly neglected while I'm trying to finish up a project for a client.

hehe...

I've just been using the wired versions and deal with my spaghetti hell as it is :D

I just finished soldering 214 leds. I have a hell of a spaghetti mess to, mine is a linear build using aluminum tubing as heatsinks, so I will only be able to conceal so much.
