Thanks guys for the kind words. Its been a pretty good first year for this tank.
Equis, I am using tropic Eden reef flakes.. Wanted something a little heavier so it didn't blow around too much... Unfortunatly still I always end up with a bare spot.
Any way a quick update of what's been going on in the tank..
A little while ago I switched to some AF products,
Coral A,V,B,E powder food, pro bio S, and now their balling mixtures.
So far very happy with them. Have not started np pro yet .. Against reccomendations on here I started up all in one biopellets. Didn't want another carbon source. But I think when I am done with the package I will try np pro instead. The one thing I might have to deal with is now a gfo of some kind as the AIO pellets have that in them. Not using The salt yet as I had a couple blue buckets to get through, but will likely change (especially as The LFS that used to carry The blue bucket is now gone)
The 2 bulb t5 retrofit kits I ordered (2 of them) have been on back order for about 5 weeks... Who knows when I will get them.
I added a small 10 gallon fra g tank inline to my system. Just put a small return pump in my filter sock chamber, plumbed through to the closet the other side of the wall and a drain line goes into the fliter sock in front of skimmer that the pellets output goes through. I will snap a pic here soon.
Other news not so good is my gold milli was looking tissue so I took it out and there were some horrible little orange eggs on that sucker.. S#!t. Dipped and 3 AEFW came off. I cut the branch off and emptied a full tube of glue all around the base to hopefully cover any I couldn't see. Not sure how to process about that right now... Taking all acros out to qt and dipping for 8 weeks is not an option really. So many acros are now so encrusted they can't be removed, plus I would need a large tank, with equipment etc... Plus with a 2 year old and 3 month old I just don't have time for that. So looking for any suggestions. Right now I have been Turkey basting corals regularly to blow any off..but havnt noticed anything come off any thing else (but I know they are there, this is not the first coral to show bite marks) I think I may have got a little trigger happy with the baster and blown some tissue actually off a few acros (oops). You wouldn't really know there was a problem though as everything seems to be growing well and color is not bad I think.
That's been about it for the past month.
