Mile High 220 Gallon SPS

Can anyone recommend some decent dry rock that comes in branches? I've seen the Vida Rock and also the CaribSea liferock.

Was leaning towards the caribsea? Thoughts?

Looks good!

How is the multibar angel? Does it eat well? Pick at any corals? Aggressive or shy? I'm interested in finding one myself. Too bad the second one didn't make it.

I've had the Multibar for about 4 months now. He's not eaten a single thing I've put into the tank, but he's still pretty fat, so he must be eating something in there, pods or other life on the rocks. The rock is very mature, so that has definitely helped sustain him.

He is very shy, but he has got braver with time, but certainly not aggressive. He hasn't picked at any corals.

Ive kept a lot of finicky fish in my time in the hobby, and the Multibar has been by far the hardest fish to keep, I can't for the life of me understand why they do not eat prepared food, even tried live Brine shrimp and live black worms.

I got my male from live aquaria, divers den (healthy, but has never eaten). I tried one several years ago in another tank which I got from NYAquatic and that one did actually eat, but was bullied by another tank mate and I lost that one too. If I was going to try again, I would absolutely need verification that it was eating, and I think I would try NYAquatic again, hope that helps you in your search.

Hey! Another local checking in. Love the build! Your equipment room would make Captain Picard proud. On your finicky eater, try mussels. Cheers!

I've tried clams, I haven't tried mussels yet, same kind you get from the grocery?

Looking very good. Love the island of anemones and hope they stay there for you ;)

Thanks! Yeah, they've actually been attached to that exact same rock for about 6 years, in various different tanks, so I think they will stay put, they do keep splitting and I keep usually removing one, but I got lazy and I don't mind having 2 instead of 1.

Changed up the scape and added some branch rock. I'm pleased with how it came out. What you all think?

Oh, and I finally got the CaRX all working properly. Yay!

I installed an Arid C36, I hard plumbed it into the manifold, detailed the plumbing below in case anyone is thinking of also hard plumbing an Arid reactor and is looking for ideas.

Due to needing to open it up to remove chaeto every so often, I decided to add a ball valve after the gate valve, I can dial the right flow in with the gate, then when it comes to opening it up, I just shut off the ball valve without disturbing the settings. Then can open up the drain ball valve to make it less messy when removing chaeto.

Union to make it easy to remove and clean when needed.

The outlet with another union. This is where it gets interesting. You'll notice 2 ball valves, this will allow me to direct flow back to the sump or into the planned frag tank. Also will allow me to isolate the frag tank if I ever feel the need.

Return line running back to the sump. With all the return pipes from the manifold, the varying flow has helped keep detritus from building up in the sump

No way mcpuff, I just looked through your thread, your 300 is awesome, that Annularis sounds like a beast.

I'm slightly OCD and I just really like building stuff and tinkering.

Oh, and I'm part of the NSI team for the Trident, which is nice...

Yeah, he is a beast... but he's in someone else's tank now. The blueface has free reign now and is growing pretty well though nowhere near as fast as the annularis did.

Very cool you get to test out the Trident. I'm sure a lot of us will be eager to hear about it!

The algae reactor looks good, as I was reading it I was wondering if you would simply just plump a bypass when taking it off line for cleaning? Looks like you did.

Keep up the good work.
