Minh's 320 reef

My tank is really doing well and the corals are growing like crazy. You know that your SPSs are growing fast when you can see, even with observation every day, that the corals change from day to day.
I get to observe my Flame Angel pair spawn tonight as the light turn out. I also get to see the Lyetail anthias spawned today. It was very neat. I will try to see if I can capture this on video this weekend.

Fish list update:
I removed the Blotchii tang. He really get big fast and turn out very beautiful. 6 foot tank is going to be marginally too small for him. I really like him but rather have two or three medium size fish in the tank rather than one huge tang. I gave him to a friend who have a 500 g tank that is two feet longer than mine. He is doing fine in there.

I also removed the Powder Blue Tang and put him in the frag tank. He keep harassing my new Copper Band butterfly. Once he is out, my CBB did well and have regain all the weight, no longer look concave in on the dorsal area. Another friend wanted to buy this PB tang from me. I think I will sell him. He is really fat and adapting very well to captivity. He gorge himself on Nori everyday until it look like hi is going to bust. I am looking to add another tang into the tank, then add another PB tang again as the last fish.

Right now I have these fishes in the tank
Purple Tang
Yellow tang
One spot Fox face
CB butterfly
(I tried a pair but the PB tang kill one before I got him out). I think I will attempt to keep a pair of these. Reading about CBB, I find that " they should be keep singly unless you want a pair or a group" (?????) I would love for anybody that keep more than one of these give me some pointer. I keep both of my CBB in a 40 g breeder QT tank and they did great there without any fighting for 10 days. Once release into the DT, the PB tang harassing them to no end and killed the larger CBB before I was able to trap the PB tang out.
Marine Beta pair
Flame angel pair
One Royal Gramma. I need to get a harem of females for him
Wantanabe angel pair
6 Lytail Anthias, one male and 5 females
10 Clownfishs a pair Black Snowflakes, an Onyx pair, one Picasso and 5 SnowOnyx

I have had the following casualties from the Carpets:
Mandarin Pair
Leopard wrasse pair

I wanted to added one more tang and a PB tang (very last fish I will add)
Another CBB
Really consider a Majestic Angel or a Regal angel but I don't know if I should.

So any body who have keep two or more CBB please mention your experiences please.

Thanks for the update as it's always nice to see you progressing forward. Seeing the flame angles spawn is a passion of mine as at on time breeding centropyge aurantius golden angels about 16 to 18 years ago.

Also I was thinking about getting a CBB to eat the aptasia explosion that I have going on in my tank right now. Do you recommend one? The reason I ask is I have a maxima clam and have read they like to pick is this true?

CBB is a great reef community fish. I feed mine frozen steamer clams and never have any problem with CBB bother any of my Tridacna clams over the years. CBB will do a number on all your feather duster and Medusa worms before move on to the aptasia. Once these pest are gone, I feed mine frozen steamer clams. I am going to get a pair for my reef, eventually.

Great fish selections already. How did you get the marine betta pair?
Thanks

You just have to try and remove one if they fight.
I had one since her was about 1.5 inches (5 years ago). A LFS got two small MB in both also very small. about 2 inches. I asked them to put the two together but thye fight, one took a chunk of tail off of the other. I got one of the two and put him in my tank. Fortunately they ignored each other until recently. Now they do swim next to each other some time, but never fight. My bigger one is about 6 inches now and the smaller one about 4 inches. Doing very well together.

Thank you sir. I really appreciate the response

For tangs the most docile ones I had were lieutenant and lavender. If your tangs are on the mellow side I would one of those guys. If you current tangs are a little or just mean I would add a powder brown. Also, a doctor tang is really calm and has nice coloration when it gets older. To me it depends on the temperament of your current tangs. I wouldn't worry about the crowdedness of the tank since you remove too large fish and keep the husbandry up.

I love the tank! I used to have several a few years back but had to part with them due to going to grad school out of state. A friend of mine just moved a week ago and I bought his tank from him. It is pretty bare at the moment so I'm looking to buy some frags to get started. Are you selling any from your frag tank?

Got my Regal angel today. The yellow tang bother him a little but not much. He used the carpet as protection which really cause my heart to jumped to my throat for a few minutes. Hope he won't made a habit out of this. Here are two picture of him today in my DT, no quarantine

Thanks.
He is a small one, just about the sixe of a large flame angel, slightly more than 2 inches over all length.
By the time the light dim out he found a hole somewhere in the rock to sleep. I also added a Yellow eye Kole tang at the same time. The tang seem to draw the ire of the establish tangs. They seem leave the Regal angel alone.
