Minimalist Aquascaping

You could do two big pillars like on my tank and put the extra rock in the sump.

haha ! i should huh.. that piece on the right side is really big.. the rocks wont need lights right?

I like the before better. Maybe a "small" island for ricordias or something. The after is definitely outside the realm of minimalist aquascaping.
 
Don't know if mine qualifies, and there's no water yet (still building) so I'm not sure it's accurately described as "aquascaping" [grin], but here's what I have so far:

I think mine is fairly minimal though there is 100lbs of rock. Tank is only 2 weeks old in this picture, it's 2 months old now. I have a good crop of ricordea and some blue ridge coral that came on my rock. I plan to start adding some more corals soon, probably just mushrooms for now and some zoas a little later on, taking it slow...

Crappy phone pics but you get the general idea. I am on the hunt for a couple of nice clams to put on the sand in front.

Im thinking of setting up my new reef as a minimalist with lost of open space for some Chromis. I think I like corals too much though, it might get over crowded.
