This was the auction.

Now there is this one.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250211153466&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:US:1123

The guy that bought it is now selling frags as the original Tyree Watermelon. Boy that is so sad. He couldn't even take his own picture to sell it. He is using that bad pic that the original seller was using. It must look pretty bad if he can't take his own picture.

Its pretty dern amusing that they didn't even take their own pic before posting it back for sale... :D

I guess they are trying to make their $1900 back... They must be shipping USPS for $25...

I can't believe anyone paid 1900 for that coral. I think I could find room for it in the back of my frag tank... maybe.

Garrett.

I have very mixed feelings about this. At surface level, it is pretty sad to witness. But when you think about it, what the hell is the difference in what everyone else is doing. In fact, what goes on in the market/industry is even worse!!!!! You think Tyree ever paid 1900 for his corals to turn around and sell them at the rate they go for? Fat chance. Shoot, I could see the justification in that.
Ive seen wholesellers sell super rare colonies(apprx 40+heads)of micros for 4-500 bucks. Then watch the retailer/etailer turn around and sell polyps of it at 50 bucks a pop. Then Tyree comes along likes it, markets it. Now EVERYONE is selling it at 100-150$

So what's the difference? Oh ya, Tyree's name ;) To me, thats pretty sad.

No, Im not the guy on ebay, no Im not defending him. But Im not going to side with the boutique coral propagandists either :)

As i've said a bunch of times over the last year, this hobby has turned from reefing for enjoyment to a LARGE number of people just trying to squeeze as much money out of the hobby as they can.

Le's, tyree's, super rare limited editions and the like WILL ruin this hobby!

SAD!:(

Here we go again.

Lol, dont worry ianiwane, very few care. You guys are winning and will still make your money back on your frags:)

oh man....................
anyway, back on the topic..... if you do a search on fargs dot org you will find in the last week the guy that originaly sold that colony(not frag) from the previous post and on ebay...appears he is still selling frags off the colony....I think all who have bought and sold are the same person or group of friends.this colony has sold many times over, as a colony and as frags. THIS is what is different than what sufunk is going on and on about...

I have spoken out many times on RC about the original ebay seller and his lack of credibility. Most of my posts were deleted by the mods, and I was issued a warning. Bottom line is that more people are out money for frags that are not what is represented. IMO this is a case to justify traceable lineage.

Goes on and on about??? I have never once posted a thread on the topic, I just respond to others saying the same thing once every few months.

What actually goes on and on in here are the same people posting heavily photoshopped pics under ridiculous lighting of "one of a kind corals" to help them and their buddies make $$$$;)

I contacted both the seller and the highest bidder before I even posted this. Wanna see what the seller wrote back to me? It's pretty funny.

This is what I wrote to him

As I'm sure you are aware your Watermelon is not the Tyree one. You should be selling it as such. Here is a thread about it on RC.
http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1250066&perpage=25&pagenumber=1
You should read it if you haven't.

This is what he wrote back to me

I don't know who you think you are, you have no right to contact
my buyers, you have never seen the coral in person! My buyers
have retracted their bids as a result of your actions. You have
made slanderous allegations based on assumptions that you
have no way of verifying. You will be reported to e-bay for
doing so. Any further accusations you make on e-bay or any
other forums regarding me or any of my items will be
considered as slanderous and or defamation of character and
will be reported accordingly.

Lets see if Ebay does anything. Then I wrote this back to him

You don't know who I think I am? Well I think I have the right to tell people that they won't get what they think they are getting. What is wrong with that. I have an email from the person you bought the coral from saying it isn't the Tyree one. He said he was mistaken. He said he will inform the buyer also which means either he lied or you are trying to rip people off. Seeing that you responded this way I think you must already know that it isn't the Tyree one. Did you read the thread? Here is a link to a new one.
