Damm Auto Correct Can you convert a MR2 to a MR 2-R

I was gonna buy a used mr 3 that was converted to a mr3r. DIY job. Took pix to raj and Jeremy at SEA in Atlanta. They said I'd b better off converting it back because the mr3 box isn't big enough for recirculating. I got the mr2r and its a beast. Especially if u remove the cotton from the silencers. Runs a lot better.

Little update on the MRC skimmer's home "fish room"

Posted this in the Equipment Forum, but figured I'd post here as well.

I have an MRC MR-2 Protien Skimmer. The skimmer has never worked efficiently since the day I got it. It's running off of a Reef Marlin pump, so it's got enough pressure. Main problem is that is hardly has any bubbles in the main column. If I put my finger near the air inlets, I feel no suction, so it's not sucking any air, but I can't figure out why.

Can someone please help?

Thanks.

I had similar issues with the MR1 running on the recomended blueline 40. I never could get it to foam right. I just got rid of it. They seem to be great skimmers, I just couldn't get mine to work well. The replacement is kicking some serious a** however. Good luck

What skimmer did you get?

Whats the maintanance of a MRC Skimmer? its it hard to tune? They seem to be great skimmers but hows the weekly monthly maintanance?

ive been running a mr2r for a few months. my experience is that when they are dialed in the do great. problem i found is that anything you do, i.e. feed, change filter socks, clean, put your hands in tank, it takes foreeeevveerrr for the foam to build back up. i know these things will do this to a NW skimmer also but im talking a day or two just to get the head of foam built back up to where it is skimming again. i tried to save some money and go with this but should have coughed it up for the orca pro 1. still kicking myself. def do some research or better yet, read this entire thread and i think youll see a lot of frustration with the becketts.

NEWSALT all becketts must have the water level lower then the becketts are.
The water level should start at the box you can raise it up but never
higher then the becketts.
The higher you make the beckett tower the better it will perform.
Adding even a foot will increase its power.
I prefer to run my becketts open without a neddlevalue just remove them
and try it that way.
Very easy to setup any beckett....water level at the box....beckettts
open works better for me.

Hello everyone can anyone tell me were to get the below parts?
Thanks
Also what is a good pump to use on a mrcmr2 single becket that uses the least amount of electricity? NY city is out of control with electric charges. It's like with taxes and fees around .21 cents per kilowatt.

I tried all you described, with the low water level, removing the air valves, I simply get now bubbles. I can't figure this out.

Where should the water level be inside the Beckett injector housing? I took this shot. This is where the water is on mine. Is that normal?

This is very interesting. Not all becketts are created equal though. I have an MR-3R with two becketts and I don't get near the foam you do. On top of all of this I'm using an energy wasting Iwaki 70RLT pump.

Why is it that MRC does not raise the height of their stock becketts then if this is the case?
