multiple clownfish in 265g.

Last week I purchased a couple small Ocellaris clownfish and put them in my 256. I was wondering if it would be a bad Idea if I added a couple young Picasso or snowflake clownfish also. I have around 300lb of rock and 4 bta's so there would be plenty of room for them.

I am sure there are a lot of different opinions on this. There is always a risk when mixing clowns, but IME I had 2 different pairs of clowns in my 220 with 2 different nem's with out any problems. First added were 2 True percs, and about a year later I added 2 black ice clowns. The got along great!

Your tank is big enough it might work, If stick to different sides. I gave up on the idea, not enough real estate to risk it.

I think as stated you could be fine and I have heard of people putting two pairs in smaller tanks for sure. But there is always a chance a dominate female will go after the other pair in your tank.

There are lots of things that you can do that you probably shouldn't. More than one pair of clowns is one of those things.

i am going to upgrade to a larger tank this winter and thinking about the same thing. i was considering the harem approach though.

I got 10 clowns, Ocellaris, Percula and OcellarisXPercula, in my 320 gal tank with no less than 8 hosting anemones. That was too many clowns. Nobody got killed but there are always torn fins and they don't look their best. I removed 6 and just leave 2 pairs. They are doing fine in two different area of the tank.

Do you think your pair getting along is rare? I've been looking into getting a second pair of pink skunks for my 72" x 36" x 27" (LWH) 300g. I've read plenty of posts indicating that multiple different species is not good, but not much out there about multiple pairs of the same species.

EDIT: I should add that there are 2 anemones on opposite sides of the tank.

My tank settle down to 3 pairs. A Percula pair on the R and Ocellaris on the L then there is a least dominate pair of Ocellaris female and Percula male upper L in two large Frogspawns. Teh pair on the R side reside in 3 anemones, a Magnifica, a Gigantea and a Haddoni. The pair on the L reside in 2 Gigantea and two Haddoni.
The two pairs on the L occasionally wander into each other territory but no torn fins or lock jaws. The two dominate pair seem to be ready to spawn in the next few months while the last pair is not any where near spawn.

I have a 360 gallon with a pair of pink skunks. I tried to add a pair if perculas but the skunks chased them relentlessly until they both went carpet surfing. Had the skunks not been established I may have had better luck...

I have a friend with two pairs I. His 240 it works fine they don't go to far from their anemone and he has them placed in the corners. There is plenty of space in between.
