Mutt's Build - IM's New Fusion 40

love this build and tank! I currently have an SR-60 (link is in my signature), and am using the cadlights pls50. I was in love with it but now am having major water level issues. After having the HOB skimmer, would you recommend this over the cadlights still. It looked like it was doing a great job for you... Thanks and good luck!

@ Vlapinta.. I used 1/2 inch conduit with a conduit bender. It was cost effective. The conduit was only $1.99 for 10 feet. The bender is about $39, but still was less than a hanging kit.

I used Real Reef and some seed rock from YourReef (My LFS). I was considering using some Pukani but like the ability to be able to choose my pieces. I ended up using epoxy and reinforcing the shelf pieces with 1/4 in acrylic rods. I believe the dryPukani takes a little while to cure just depends if you want a fast cycle or not. Good luck with the build!

@Blake.. I love my HOB-1 skimmer from Aquamaxx... It skims quick and thick... I do like the larger cup with the ability to use a external scuzz container for when I go on vacations. I can tell if something works well if I don't have to mess with it much. I set this skimmer up and havn't adjusted it in a few days. The only thing I have been doing is emptying the cups. Like I said before, I just had a few initial issues with the cadlights skimmer arriving damaged... It's probably a great skimmer.. I just like my Aquamaxx a lot better.

Great idea! Then I'm assuming you painted it? What kind of paint did you use?

Did you attach the conduit to the back of the stand. I am going to get my husband to make this for me. Great job!

I used Rustolium flat black BBQ paint.. Its high heat and durable... I also used just some 1/2 inch conduit clamps on the frame of my stand.

I am completely up and running now. I must say the radion is money well spent. No issues with reactor. Put about 4 teaspoons in and have the flow on the lowest and very small tumble. I am glad I went with IM and ecotech.

Hey a Biz! Congrats... Got my IM reactor to the lowest setting... Currently at Disneyland, not much on updates other than ordering my baskets... I have to say I had some quick responses from Marine Depot today... They have some great customer service!

my fix for the week lol

What baskets did you order. I didn't see that they made any for the 40. Did you order the ones for the 38??

Go to marine depot and search for custom caddy. They will have a drop down bar and select fusion 40 and 30L. $40 and use 15% off promo code and you are set

Very nice. Love Disneyland. I lived in Santa Rosa and Sonoma for 8 yrs so I do enjoy the west coast. We had snow yesterday which is crazy.

Glad the reactor is running for you. I am going to wait and see about skimmers. Have the tunze ATO arriving Tuesday and will set that up. Overall feel pleased with everything. Return pump is loud. Don't remember IMs pumps being this loud.
