My 120 filled mostly with SPS

Beautiful corals and pics as always mate, nice way to start the year off :) Is that last acro the one you guys call red dragon, very pretty and delicate looking growth structure.
As to the snails, i put 20 x 1/4" Trochus in after the initial cycle and they're now well over 1" dia and damage the acros when they get themselves stuck in between pieces. I was going to wait for them to breed before removing them but i've added about 20 baby turbo snails which only grow to 1/2" dia so i think the Trochus will get the heave ho shortly.

Thanks, yes that last one is red dragon, it has grown on me, never thought it was worth the price tag associated with it, that has come down considerably, you do have to marvel at its growth habit and structure.

Wow, the colours on your sps is amazing! The prostata you sold is insane!
Also, the photography is right on (as usual).

Really nice setup you have very nicely laid out!

How have the colors on ur SPS been lately? What about growth? I'm guessing metal halide was probably better with growth, but are colors a lot different with the hybrid? Any different? Better or worse? Not noticeable? I know u answered this earlier in the thread, but more time has passed and im wondering if things are changing at all??

I'm building a new tank (96x30x21) and wondering if I should try to do a metal halide/led hybrid or t5/led hybrid. I currently have a t5/led hybrid on my 180 (I was inspired from u). I talked to u earlier in the thread, Idk if u remember me. This is my current light setup

I recently got solar on my house, so I have no issue now using a bit more electricity with lighting and a chiller. I already ordered 150-3w LEDs from stevesleds dot com. They're the Phillips luxeon LEDs.

Thanks for any help Ur corals look great by the way. Just wondering if ur still happy with the hybrid light.

Yes, that prostrata was huge! It was that size despite constant pruning and fragging, but eventually I just couldn't keep up. I definitely got a ton of frags out to other reefers over the past year and a half. There is quite the base still encrusted onto my rockwork, it is already healing over where I cut it and I'm sure will be throwing out new growth in no time. In the meantime, some of my other corals seem to be enjoying the extra light and flow the prostrata colony void has created.

what is the return pump flow rate to your tank? curious about your turnover rate.

I have a enheim 1262 running 100% to the display through 3/4" PVC, with about 5' of head. So whatever flow that would create.

I do remember, that is a slick lighting setup you have. Honestly, I get great colours and growth with the T5s and LEDs, and I don't think I can say they are better or worse than the MHs, just a bit different. I think with the MHs you can get richer colours, where the T5s create a bit more pastel colours, but with either setup you can get great colours and growth. The LEDs add a nice shimmer and really bring out some awesome colours in the corals to supplement the T5s. I think with both you have to make sure to change your bulbs every 9 to 12 months, and have good water parameters, so it is always a combo thing when it comes to color and growth. In the end, yes I am still happy with the lighting!

I haven't added corals to my tank in a long time, I've been generally trying to move stuff out instead of in. Anyhow, I got two mari-cultured pieces, first mari-cultured pieces I've gotten probably in a year and a half to two years. One is A. Hoeksemai, posted some pics in the A.H. thread, sounds like it is a slow grower and not the easiest to keep, but I'll give it a try. Hopefully it holds its nice blue colour. The other is a A. Plana, looks similar to the crayola plana, is colouring up fantastically and has great polyp extension.
