My 120 filled mostly with SPS

Some photos I didn't get a chance to post previously.

F & I prostrata is starting to bud back out nicely:

Pic of the day for me. :)

Jordan, can you tell me how much liverock you have in your display/sump? Thanks.

Thanks Sahin. So far so good with the hoek, the blue is really nice and the hints of green at the polyps provide beautiful contrasting colour.

I figure I've got about 50 - 60 lbs in my display, and another 25 to 30 in my sump. So roughly 75-90 total in my system. When I moved my 55 gallon over to my 120, I didn't add anymore rock, and just went with what I had.

Hi jroovers,

You kept that Regal angel in your tank for awhile. Do you think that it would live a calm and comfortable life in a 120 gallons tank? I am thinking of upgrading to a 120 gallons in a few months and would love to have a Regal angelfish. I know about its diet and the fact that it might not be 100% reef safe and I accept that fact. I am mostly worry about the tank size.

Thanks.

I love instant gratification!!

Here you go, couple of quickies, first one with Cree RBs on, the second is with T5's only (2 ATI coral +, 2 ATI aqua blue special).

The right pillar still looks strange to me without the giant fire and ice colony. It will fill back out soon enough though.

It seems fine in the 120. It actively cruises the reef and does figure 8's around my pillars, so it does have quite a bit of space. It will sample pretty much everything at one point or another, but mostly leaves the SPS alone.

Looks awesome. So nice to see those large colonies there rather than 100 mini colonies.

I love this tank... I am really happy you don't have 100 different corals in this tank, instead you let this tank grow to maturity. +1000 on this tank.

Originally I envisioned something that didn't look too full with lots of room for fish to swim around. I got away from that over time and finally I think I'm close to being back to where I saw myself wanting to go when I originally started this tank up. Its not minimalist but I'm trying to give it a pleasing, balanced look while also being functional for the fish and the corals.

So your saying you don't like the "cram a million corals in" look I was running with.

I love the look of your tank and aquascaping but whats a reefer to do when they are a coral junky. I think its out of my system though, if I did another SPS tank it would be like yours.. :)

I don't think yours looked too crammed at all... I think you managed to grow a fantastic looking reef that had great structure and form and didn't look unbalanced. If anything, maybe some of your colonies were getting too big!

To be honest, I'm not sure how you did it. Growing a handful of colonies to maturity is one thing, but growing dozens is another.

You definitely are a coral junkie though, no doubt about that

In my opinion, you have turned your vision into reality.

I can sum it up my overall impression with two words:
1. MASTERFUL
2. Subscribed

"all of my fully colored mature colonies are growing into each other"

"i dont like the balance of all of my HUGE amazing colonies"

"I have too many incredibly healthy corals in my tank"

REALLY!!!! REALLY!!!!

Great work guys. Tank is filling in nicely J. Is it the Canadian water or the 11 months of winter that you attribute all of you successes to?

Sorry if i sound a bit bitter. Its just envy :)
