My 2nd Attempt at a S. gig, 1st attempt under LeD's

Wow, how do you do that?
I'm struggling to keep one healthy but you have two.
Congratulation, they are beautiful.

the trick to healthy S. Gigantea's in my opinion is reading them bed time stories... right before lights out... :spin2: just kidding haha, imo though is honestly just finding a healthy one from the get go, looking for key features like stickyness and tight mouth... i took a risk with that bleached one considering it was so severely bleached.. but the tight mouth and stickyness is what made me get it..

Thank you for the kind words :)...i hope yours pulls around for you.

Well..Here is just a random.. Large picture update of both S. Gig's, i tried to only select a few pictures, but i liked the way alot of the pictures turned out..so ima upload em all! =D besides i know you all enjoy pictures haha..

Here is a Full Tank SHot to show you the size of the purple S. Gig he has really oepened up =] and gotten big, as you guys can see, i added 2 strips of LeD's.. because imo the front and back and corners were too shaded for me, so i threw these on there, and have them turned down to 50%

as of Right now my tank is down on flow, cause one of my MP10's broke and im sending it in to get serviced =[ so that kind sucks
but everything else is going good in the tank!

Great thread and beautiful Gigantea's. I see from the last picture that the bleached Gig started to regain zooxanthellae. All the anemones that you have are beautiful.
I just got one a week ago. Here is a thread about my Gigantea
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2196701

Thank you! :) yea the little one is definantly regaining alot of zooxanthellae, alot of the tentacles are starting to get the brown hugh to it, so thats good, he has made IMO...a huge turn around from when i first got him, being completely white and almost transparent...

your anemone is looking good too, i also have another one in my house that i have not posted on here yet, that was like that when i got it, lightly bleached, yours looks promising though :)

BUTTTTT....I got bored tonight, so i thought id take some pictures, go figure, two things i enjoy doing in life... Reef Keeping, and Taking pictures of my Tank.. youd think id get bored of taking pictures of the same thing, but...you are wrong, i highly enjoy it, now enjoy these pictures hahaha =D

i did take these group of pictures with a different camera, took them with my sony A300, so the colors may appear different then other pictrues, as i got the settings different on each camera i use, but for most part the colors are pretty true

I really enjoy taking these FTS, as it shows how big the S. Gig is.

I really love all of your pictures! I don't have lights that could support anemones yet. But I definitely enjoy looking at yours. :) Keep the updates coming.

He's really coming along i think :) IMO i dont think he's coming along as fast as some other's have come along, idk if it has to deal with the LeD's, or if its just cause it was THAT bleached... but needless to say, he is indeed Coming along nice and healthy =]

My purple Gigantea looks just like your's

scaled.php

this is true, although mine has the white tips, which u cant really see without a flash, so it dont make a difference.. :P

glad to see yours is coming along nicely though!

Gla to see a positive carpet surfing story, I think many of us can relate. Anem's are looking vibrant.
tagging along.

Ok so where exactly is Byron? I'm coming to sit outside your feed shop?lfs and get the next nem before you start an official rescue foundation for them!!

Haha well it woild appear as my gig honey whole has run dry as ive tried getting a few more over the past month or so and theyv had no luck lately... :(

SOOOO ive got my self a dilemma here... over this past weekend i ordered myself some Metal Halide... and my S. Gig will now be housed under 250W Metal Halides..

let me be clear though, i am not taking the led's down because i didnt think they wrked for the S. Gig, i 100% beleive they worked and i beleive the S. Gig's were happy under them, i am taking them down because my SPS isnt coloring up like i would like them to be, so i am attemping the Metal Halides to see what they do..

i fnd its alot easier to capture the naturalcolor of the S. Gig under the MH lights though than it was for the LeD's :P

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wrMjS0fsARM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I don't think you have a dilemma... I went from 250 watt halides to LEDs and my gig didn't notice the difference. I agree that it's fine under either. My SPS changed colors when I switched to LEDs but are most are slowly coming back, so I don't plan on switching back.

Haha i ment the dilemma is in my title... S. Gig under leds...but its no longer under leds anymore haha...didnt mean a real dilemma haha

Very nice. I see that the algae is slowly going away. More pics of the little Gigantea please.
:) You and me, will try to get Gigantea to sexually reproduce in aquarium. :)
