My 300 gal marineland DD Build

Added probably my last tang today. Yes those are blue devil damsels. I have 8 of them. LOL They stay small and nice to look at. No wimpy fish in my tank anyway. No more jumping fairys.
Anyhow my last tang is an achilles. Nice and fat eating nori, and really liking the new tank. He keeps trying to get cleaned by the cleaner shrimp, But that guys a dud. He wont clean. If i put my hand near him he will jump on, but fish? No way. LOL
I'll ave to pick up a couple skunk cleaners this weekend.

Thanks! I gotten a achilles eating mysis, nori, and flake food like a pig. Now to mix mysis and small pellets and see if he will start on them next.
Heres a short vid of my tank. Its not that loud, for some reason my camera is picking up something but all i hear is water trickle. Anyways here the vid.

Creetin,
Could I ask how much the stand ran you...
Im looking at the same tank, just trying to decide on building my own stand at 42" tall in place where the tank will go, or get a 30" pre-made one...

Haxer, I have a shorter stand under my 220g and I wish it was taller. Not much room for access to skimmer etc.

Creetin, love the achilles (beautiful fish) how do your tangs get along? Does the purple and orange shoulder co-exist fine?

The marineland stand i believe is 27 inches tall. If you want a big sump you'll want a taller stand than 30" I planned on a 60 breeder, But ended up using a 50 breeder for a sump. I didnt want a frag tank. Maybe later i'll add one in the little room i have behind the tank, Buty that will be a small one.
The stands will vary from price. I would call as many places to see what they would charge for a custom stand first.

The orange is a COW he eats like one too. Not really agressive, But he is not timid either. The purple i think gets pestered by him as he is alwas trying to butt in on him grazing. Nothing serious though. They all have thier spots where they rest at night.
I wanted a sohal, But my last one was too evil! So i went with this mild mannered orange shoulder and set sights on an achilles.
I thought on a blond naso, But one cow is enough in my tank. I think i am done with tangs. I may get a couple more fish, But they will have to be small. Like a jawfish.

Reworked a reeflo blackfin pump to the retun and feeding my other equipment. It will feed everything so only one pump running this tank besides the skimmer pump.
Couple quick pics.

Also finished refurbing a 1/3rd HP chiller. It was nasty!!! The think was leaking all over. LOL Rusted to bits. Luckaly i got her all fixed up and cleaned up pretty well. Stopped the rusting by sanding/scraping most of it off and covering with rustoleum.
Have not plumbed it in yet, That will be done this week.
Couple coral pics.

Some new additions and a full tank shot to show the progress.

Very nice but I am also a bit leary of no bottom support but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Tank looks great.

All is good. I have a little exp with setting up glass tanks.
I have not supported 1 center of any of my tanks in 25 years.
I would not get under the tank if i didnt feel safe. :)
Checked it with my lazer level a couple days ago. I had some benchmarks when i set the tank up. It has not shifted 1/16 yet.
I'll keep checking though.
I know it would not hurt to have it supported, But its not needed IMO. Checked all joints all are intact, seams are nice and tight.
The stand builder that built mine has been building stands for over 20 years. Builds alot for the marineland tanks too.

That's some mad flow right to left. Think I see a Tunze in the top right corner but earlier in the thread you said you were doing a closed loop. Can you elaborate?

Thanks.
I skipped the closed loop. What they charged to drill was crazy.
I went with feeding all my reactors and such with a larger pump and put penductors on. There is alot of flow. I have 2 tunze 6201's and a tunze 6125 with the ruturn 1600gph on the penductors. The sand shifts all around and keeps detritus in suspention. The sohal loves the flow.

I contacted chris at reeflow it may a bit louder because the impeller is rubbing or a bad motor. I will be taking it apart in a few to see. It has gotten louder within the last couple days.
