looking good.what are you going to be keeping in there.alot of people i have talked to say you cant grow any hard corals with just t-5.im not sure about this and would love to know the limitations as for my tank to save electricity and keep the heat down.

90% sps corals look in the sps form and you can see pics of sps tanks with all t5 lighting imo the corals look better under t5s.
you can keep any type of coral under t5s plus they do cost a little less to run....

you really need to stop talking to these people :D that is totally wrong information! watt for watt, T5's put out more PAR than halides.

If you want to see a good example, look up IWAN here or on the ZEO forums

That is very nice rockwork. What do you use to clue the rock together?

i used handi foam zip ties and acrylic rods.....hope that helps

mrpet - as a fellow big tank T5er, what are your thoughts on the Sfiligoi Xenus Wavemaker. It basically is a surface wavewaker, that supposedly agitates the surface enough that you get shimmer with T5s, and maybe has some oxygenization benefits too. I asked AO if they could try it out on their T5-only tank and they said it does in fact produce shimmer, Im very tempted and curious if youve looked into this...

I run a T5-only tank and have been looking to get shimmer. I tried various high-powered LED's, but the T5's still overpowered them. This wavemaker sounds interesting if it works. Did AO take a video of this? I run 4 Tunzes in my 180g, and get good surface agitation, but still not shimmer. I wonder how much agitaiton the Sfiligoi unit produces.

Mrpet, I have used the handi foam for several years now. I now put it between the rocks to interlock them. It works great and after a few months you can't tell the difference. On the walls I actually place some small pieces of live rock to give it more life like. your setup looks great. sorry to here about the skimmer.
