My Black Ocellaris pair are spawning!!!

lol dude your clowns spawn heaps. id like to get into this, not only for the fun of it, but you could make alot of money yeah?. how many tank setups with clowns would you need to make serious $$$, ie make a living out of it?

its funny how life carrys on isnt it? like they are protecting the eggs to begin with then u do the rest, kind of like a ill lay eggs, u hatch and raise for me kind of deal lol. like were making it real easy for the species to propagate, just cuz we love clowns, and theyre oblivious to it lol. anyway i hope you get what i mean.

Money? Its been nothing but costs so far lol. I could make more money working part time at McDonalds then breeding clowns :)

I get you. Certainly alot more survive by having us to look after them then would survive in the wild.

If you're serious abouth making money out of your clowns babies, prepare a lot of grow out tank. It'll take you maybe 4-5 months before you will be able to reach the 1" market size of the baby clowns. Oh and you have to have a live culture of rotifers.

I am going to post one of your pictures by my B&W clowns so they will know what to do. They have still not taken to an anemone, let alone laid eggs.

I have heard of stress causing the fish to be hosted quicker. Mine were stressed by another pair when I first got them. Possibly helping in the end. Nice Haddoni BTW

man, I just found this thread..... and I read all 11 pages. incredible!!!!! dude your da man!!!!! I have two pairs of clowns right now, well one pair for sure... and two onyx which I don't know if they're paired up cuss they don't show signs. anyways, I'm gonna bookmark this and subscribe, cuss when my clowns do lay eggs, I'm gonna hit you up.

They are doing great Linkblaze. I've sold my first pair this week. The other 2 batches are getting bigger all the time. Jthao no probs pm me if you need any help.

I love baby clownfish, they are so adorable! I have had a pair for about 8 months or so which means they may start breeding soon! So I have been reading all I can about breeding fish and I hope they will start by next year and this thread has been very helpful!

Thanks RevHtree / fish addict. I see some silver eyes developing. We think they should hatch thursday night if they stay on the same incubation period.

Usually they lay on a tile so I just take the eggs to the larvae tank on the day they are to hatch. If they lay on a rock like this time. I use a flashlight and a bowl to catch the larvae and transfer them. (they are attracted to light)

Awesome Thread !!!

I'm thinking I may have to do a road trip to Belleville. :D

Have you tried GoldenPearls for your fry? I had a yellow clown goby given to me at about a 1/4" and I raised him on GoldenPearls. This was a little over a year ago and still going strong today. The good thing about GP is you can get it in various sizes from 5 microns up to 800+ microns.

Just a thought......If you get two identical tiles and swap egg tile for clean tile you will not stress them so bad.You may be doing this already. Also IMO if a fish eats her eggs it is either stress or diet.Feed her like mad and keep everything out of HER tank.Put the tile back in and do the swap. They will be ok.Good luck.Pm if I can help in any way.Mitch

my onyx just showed signs of pairing!!! yeah!!!!! anyways, I wanted to know, how do I get them to lay eggs?? mines are pretty big already, maybe adult already, female is maybe 3" and male 2"...... does egg laying just come natural? or do I have to provide a type of environment? my onyx are in my refugium cuss I don't want them in the main tank cuss I won't be able to get them out later for breeding. my refugium is around 25g.
