I had the weirdest yet coolest thing just happen.
I've had my picasso's for about 4.5 years now, by far my favorite fish, and also by far the most peaceful clowns I've ever kept, so peaceful in fact I've been concerned about them not being able to fend off other fish from their eggs.
I could tell they were very stressed after spawning from the relentless attempts of egg snatching, so I decided to get them a nice big anemone to provide some space and sanctuary.
I haven't seen a good natural host around here so I took a chance on a Hadonni, hoping they would accept that, but it's been 4 months now and they have never even looked at it, they stay in frogspawn.
I figured oh well, it's a nice looking haddoni, I'll keep it, but it would be nice if I could place it at a better spot to fit my scape, and there was another spot that had similar flow and light.
I saw it do what nems do yesterday, push some sand around, figured the foot might be relaxed and this would be my chance to get the foot peeled off the bottom.
It took a bit to get my hand through sandbed, and a finger under the foot and get it peeling up in a gentle way, and as I was doing this the nems tentacles started really sticking around my hand(Those hadonni's are sticky!!!)
Not sure if I looked like I was caught or struggling, or could the clowns sense stinging going on or what, but both male and female flew out of their frogspawn, and went into full blown attack mode, and not at my hand(as all other clowns I've had would have done) but at the nem.
They were biting, tail whipping, head butting, swishing sand, just absolutely going ballistic on the hadonni!
Even after I got the hadonni lifted and relocated they kept going at it, but at a lesser amount as my hand was out of tank.
Now another interesting thing is this is the first time a nem ever made me feel ill after touching it, I was nauseous and headachy about 5 minutes after all this, so while I did not feel any stings, no doubt it had to have been stinging me, and my best guess is maybe the clowns could tell, maybe, I mean something certainly set them off.
I have never seen, witnessed, or heard of anything like this before, thought I'd just share my experience.
