dang now thats a DI canister. lol so you don't have a sediment filter anymore? what was your TDS reading? also I think Grant has a clorimeter that can test for copper.

I have never considered coraline growth as an indicator of reef health, although many hobbiests have mentioned that on visits. I think you guys are probably right that there is some combination of elements making it happen in my tank. maybe it's the light movers?

Anyway, I will be posting later in my thread abou the damage that coraline can do.

I wrote to AWT and asked about the difference in the CA test results and thought that I would post the reply I received back from AWT.

Hello Chuck,

Thank you for writing. I know that the calcium test uses an ion-selective probe and I have asked the guys to look into this for you. At this point they have checked the calibration on the probe used on your sample and said it was fine. What they are doing now is checking on the interferences involved with hobbyist titration kits and comparing them with the interferences in our probe + program method in hopes that it will illuminate a reason for the difference. It may be that the presence of magnesium carbonate may shift one test up and one down for example so they will look into it. I will let you know as soon as I do what they come up with and we'll figure out where to go from there!

I have to admit though jnarowe, I do prefer the look of a tank with lots of coralline.

NO...it's not me...I wished he would do water changes....he just maintains the RO unit.

don't keep plastic and stuff near a gas heater thats a no no.Keep everything a good 2 ft away from the gas hot water tank.

I didn't look at that thats another way of saving money.My friend did that he broke his floor and bypassed the meter so he has a 1/2" line that he uses to water the lawn and a few other things.I guess you will save some money

Looks that way in the picture, but the RO input is taken further up from the output of the water softener.

There are both a 8~9" Gigas & Derasa in the tank. Can't go any bigger than that, running out of real estate.

interesting post about DSBs. Gives a sand bed volume for denitrating a system our size (4000L) with heavy bioload. I know you were looking to lower your nitrates Goodwin9.
