My new DIY skimmer

This skimmer is just Like the AquaC ev series.
There is not much more info on this nor is there a diagram.
You can figure it out by looking at the pictures you would see.
I tried a while back but no luck.
Keep trying though.

Thanx for the info Brian.

Clinton, I knew you couldn't/wouldnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t give me a better description than that, as you've seemed less than accommodating to people's questions for specifics throughout this thread. Therefore my question was really aimed at anyone who has successfully made this skimmer. But it doesn't matter anymore anyway; I talked to the guys at the local plastic shop, and figured out how to do it my own way. For anyone who cares, I'll post pics when it's done.

Come on Spider,
CLinton is pretty clear in his description. I have emailed him personally about the skimmer and he has been more than accomodating.

If you read back through the thread, I am not the only person who asked for more info and didn't receive it (hence the reason I said the part about giving specifics). And like I said in a previous post, I guess his instructions were written with the assumption that people had a fair amount of knowledge in diy projects. Being one of the people without that knowledge made it very difficult to figure this project out (I am of course blaming no one for that). I am grateful for the info he did post, and I know he owes none of us anything. I was just stuck and frustrated, and answers like "the flange and the riser is clearly visible" don't offer much help. :(

Not everyone has the time to help newbs though, and I understand that.

i can undertand where cheapreef is coming from, sometimes exlplaining the basics over and ver again get frustrating. But you dont need to do it exactly as he did as long as you get the parts to come apart. you can use flanges, unions whatever as long as the design shape and dimmenions are followed or upsized downsized acording to pumps used. It is also hard to expain how to make a flange like he did. Youll need to have soem DIY knowhow to do it anyway. Go with a simpler design. Read through the numerous posts in teh DIY forum on how to make these things.

Spider-Whistle, all you have to do is email me privatly and i'll answer anything i can in as much detail as you would like. I also stated this twice already, what language would you like me to type it out in?

I made one of this

I also put one of these together this weekend. I went with slightly different measurements and flange style but am pretty satisfied. Although, I may experiment with different spray patterns in the injector tube.

Here is one of it running for about an hour. :smokin: Ah, nothing like a riser full of foam to make you feel good about a DIY project:D Thanks for the idea Clinton.

tubing?

tubing?

anyone have any extra acrylic tubing for this project they would like to sell? All I can find it in is 6' sections.

Any update about the HO version?

I finished mine, but no opportunity to test it yet.
I am also interested on the Hang on version.

I have 2 HOT units done, one is in my sump and one is at a frends. He says it's way too loud, mine is not bad and once it's under a hood or under a stand it wouldn't even be noticable i think. I would post pics but i have a guy up here copying every skimmer i make and poorly. I don't think i want to post this one for him. :rolleye1: Sorry, if anyone wants pics emailed just contact me through my email addy.

Has anybody tried this using and eductor and a high pressure pump? could be a cool set-up.

No need for all that, Norm. Then you'd just have a beckett. That's the beauty of Jason Kims (THE AquaC Man!) design, it doesn't require huge pumps and works extremely well.

Hey:

Mine has been running for a while now and is producing tons of nice dark, thick gunk. It just took a while to get it broken in and adjusted to produce skimmate that asn't to watery.
