Actually it might be a little longer than i thought. The bottom just cracked in my new 40gal cube = no more tank. Not sure what i'm doing, might shut it down.:( Or i might pick up a small bowfront and run it with no sump ect. Don't know right now, was a ****ty day.:sad2:

Brand new a month ago, no idea way it cracked. Just heard it while i was having coffe this morning and started leeking all over my floor.:eek2: After i drained the tank moved the livestock and took out all the live sand i found this.

crack

The only thing that saved me form a 40gal lawsuit was the plywood i cut for under the tank, held the bottom up long enough for me to get the water ect out. Only lost about 2 gals of water.

other spray nozzle ideas

other spray nozzle ideas

Can anyone think of any creative ideas for other spray nozzles that might work for this thing? Perhaps some sort of commercial plastic spray nozzle (like the end of a garden hose gun)? Or other types pf home made pvc nozzles... maybe drill some different patterns in the end of a pvc cap and see if there is any improvement in efficiency?

crap man that sucks. what brand was it?

It was a brand new tank bought at the LFS i buy most of my corals from. They should replace it but i can't wait and ireally don't want to trust it any more. So i bought this one days ago. http://www.oceanicsystems.com/2003/ocsys.htm click on the last link. I bought the tank and stank, nice. :D

I checked into alot of spray nozzles before i started the project , almost all put too much back pressure on the pump to work very ell at all. I also tried three different homemade ones, one with the holes drilled and few different "squished" types. None performed as well as the one i have in this design, not to say you can't try something else but i couldn't get anything else to work as well.:)

Cheapreef, I have tried to make a few of those nozles that you use. I am using a heat gun and screwdrivers to form it. I am having a really tough time getting it just right. What did you use to make your nozzle? Any help is appreciated. thx

Here is a pic of a skimmer I put together this weekend

thanks to Clinton for his help along the way...

PS....The box on this skimmer is huge, but I had the material so I thought I would use it. If it turns out to be too big, I will just make a new box and re-glue the tubing down to it..

anyone have any questions or comments, lemme know.

I have it working in a 60 gallons tank and works great with a MAG 7.
The issue I have is a lot of bubbles at the output.

I will post pictures of the skum I am getting out of it.

Thanks Cheapreef !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
