my sebae

If an anemone is "face" down, I think it is good to gently turn it over so that the foot (pedal disc) is on the sand.

That makes good sense but I am told to leave it alone. Does anybody else think I should turn it back over? It looks like its trying to flip itself back over. I will wait for a couple of hours and see what it does on its own.

I am starting to think this anemone is not a sand dwelling anemone, it seems happier on the rocks. When it is on the sand it looks irritated. Every picture of a healthy sebae I have seen, looked like they are on the rocks. (Shrugs)

Most sand dwelling anemones will wedge themselves under the base of the rockwork.
Yes. It is OK to turn it over if it's upside down.

Wetsleeves, is that a picture of a sebae in your avatar?
Yeah. That's my sebae and wide band clowns. You can see more of it here.

18" long column attached to a piece of LR almost in the back of the tank. BTW, I have a BB tank.

yours seems to be happy without sand..after I flipped the anemone back over it floated off to a hole in the rock that was close by. If it settles in there I'll be amazed and think that maybe some of these sebaes don't like the sand.

Mine took about 5 minutes to attach. It settled in about a week later. It moved It's foot moved about 180 degrees but the body is only about six inches from where it was originally placed.

I guess LA didn't give me a very healthy sebae to begin with. Its colors looked good in their picture. I guess colors aren't always good to go by.

I think you're always better off buying locally. It's even better still to get a tank reared BTA.

If your still wondering why your anemone was upside-down in the beggining, its because it was adjusting to the lights. They usually move to a dark spot until they adjust to the light. But nice job so far. Great Anemone!

Sebaes aren't like btas that hide from the light...anyways..I think the anemone is done.. It got itself out of the cave. Then I prepared a spot to see if that would help it attach. LA said these anemones like to attach to a smooth surface. Ok..so I tried to dig to get to the bottom of my tank but couldn't because the sand is too deep. So then I put a big piece of plexi glass a few inches under the sand. Then I placed the anemone on the plexi glass then put the sand around it. It didn't attach to the plexi glass and last night managed to flip itself over again. This morning it looks like this.
There is also sand on its mouth..pay no attention to that..look at its sides. Maybe I am over reacting ..it might perk back up when the lights come back on. This is the worse its ever looked compare to the other times its stayed on its mouth.

Wow... Maybe you should call or email LA? It is looking rough - I'll admit - I just hope you don't lose it... Post a pic again when you get home tonight, ok?
