I googled and figured it out that aragonite is a carbonate mineral.

But thanks to sandy swiping wburg out, my family is undergoin some minor repairs. my sis surprisedly found aragonite is basically the same as finer construction gravel.

is it true?

Aragonite is a form of calcium carbonate. Its crystalline structure is different from limestone, another form of calcium carbonate, which forms a lot of construction gravel. The impurities can be very different, too.

Thanks. They look very similar tho.

They do. :) Choosing between them is a matter of grain size and esthetics. They both will work fine as substrates, generally speaking.
