Me and my girlfriend Melanie (ElloImBambooBob) are going to GTMO Cuba for vacation in July!!!!

I lived there for 6 years of my childhood, and for this visit i would really like to go diving. It is some of the best in the world.

Does anyone on this forum have the capacity to train and provide the certification. I am willing to pay, as long as it's not too steep. Or trade frags ;)

Let me know !!!!!

Dude,

I was recently in GTMO, spent several months there. This is the best diving in the world. I went as an open water diver and left a Dive Master. If I would have been there another week I would have gotten my Instructor Cert.

Where are you located?

Be prepared to spend about $300 for certification, plus the cost of your personal gear. You can rent tanks, bcd, weights, and other equipment at the dive shop.

Tell Jessie I said hello.

I'm also looking for scuba certification. We're going to Maui this summer. To get open water certification down here it's almost $500 each.

LOL so now I know what all the money was going for:lol:. You were funding your trip to CUBA. LMAO JK.

coralfish - The classes here charge about $250 for the class and then $250 to get open water cert. Bad part about living in a dry, dusty place. LOL

You could do the class in AZ and then do your open water in Cuba. I have it done all the time. Also Ocean Enterprises has several PADI certified instructors. Jessie's husband taught me a few, to include Dive Master, and I even worked with him and other instructors while there.

quick question...you dont need any cert to go snorkeling by yourself in Hawaii do you? Just curious cuz i'm going there this summer and i dont plan on taking a boat to go snorkeling like i have in the past, in which case theres' always been a "instructor" (more just a guy watching over everyone lol).

No, i'm almost sure you don't, check local area laws, you might be required to wear a BC(thing you can blow up and float vest thingy) in certain locations, allways a good idea anyways ;)

Inland Water Divers is where I am getting mine $199 for the course and $185 for the cert. All you need to buy is mask, fins, snorkel, and booties.

I know one of the instructors.

Hey My GF and I want to get certified too. I will join the group if anyone wants to help put it together.

newhere, elmar diving is a good place to do your pool and class stuff. Once you get to Maui try www.mauidreamsdiveco.com I used them years ago and they were great. The cool part is all the stuff you see while doing your open water testing. Have fun.

MMM i' love it ok ok so i'm in for the SCUBA training GB, the Snails GB, the Tammale GB, The drive out to LA to split gas and GB coral, GB on that keg next weekend. Hmmm what else could there be, Does any one need any socks... i do... GB socks, i post new thread soon.

LMAO

chetm2 - Thanks I was going to give them a call and also Ocean Planet. I will ask them about group discounts just to see what they say.

I think that El Mar will give to discount to a group of five or more. I could be off on the number of people required, but it may be worth checking in to.
