Neptune WAV - anyone getting it?

Yeah no way. They would need to drop the price for me to even consider the wav. I have an mp40 and two gyre xf150s. I can't see spending almost as much on a pump that offers less than its competitors. It just isn't a competitive product IMO.

They can only be angled 20 up or down, but one can rotate the magnetic mount. While that should be plenty for the end of a tank, I believe it will prevent them from being an effective pump for the rear wall of a long (non-cube)

FTFY :)

I think the the limited angling ability will be a factor for people with narrow tanks, but no problem at all for deeper tanks.

They looked sweet at MACNA, and I would strongly consider them if I was in the market for a circulation pump.

Im at Macna and it looks pretty sweet to me... The 20 degree angle is more articulate than it really sounds. I just realized that for $500 you get 2 Pumps and the 1Link module...., really not that expensive conpared to those other pumps. The 3 pumps was basically a setup for their DC return pump that is coming up, that way if you buy the WAV starter you can plug the COR pump right into it. It also has a couple of other input ports.... Yet to be revealed as to what they can do. Last but not least... Cool feature of the WAV, it automatically shuts off when its out of the water... No more splasing during a water change. Every pump has advantages/disadvantages....

Wow I see the vectra has some competition. I'm not interested in the WAV (gyre fan) but that return pump looks awesome.

Any specifications on that COR for head height? I've been using a mag 18 for ever to hit around 750 gph at around 12' head.

There is a reef builders page about it. Not much info. It said 1000gph at 6ft head pressure. I think 1850 highest rating.

Thanks I just saw that. That's about the same rate as the mag 18 with it listed as 1100@5'. But not the first time I've seen good numbers under 10' head. Fluval SP series are excellent under 10'.

Yeah same flow. Though while the mag 18 is 150w the COR is 60. We recently had Eversource take over the local utility and my bill doubled so efficiency is s primary concern for every piece of equipment I purchase.

I switched to a DC pump 2 yrs ago. They are legit! I did my homework and picked what I considered to be my best option at the time. The COR looks really nice. 1st gen stuff does make me a little nervous though. Hobbiests....especially reefers...tend to find the chinks in lots of pieces of armour.

I have two concerns with the WAV.

1. The iLink only controls 3 pumps. Not sure why you would need an odd number pumps. Personally I would need 4 pumps. I currently use 4 6105s.

Where did you get the 3 pump limit info? I see nothing anywhere to back that up

The 1LINK can connect up to three 1LINK devices and two switched-only 24VDC devices. The reason for three is mostly due to an amperage limit that had to be drawn somewhere as well as the need for most people to have two pumps and then one other 1LINK device such as the DOS, upcoming COR, or another yet to be released 1LINK device. Four WAV is not a common need and would require far too much current than the average customer would need in one 1LINK. The best part is when you buy two Starter kits you get two 1LINKs. That means you will have a bunch of free expansion ports available.

Yeah I see the point now But that just pretty much killed it for me. I can do so much better for $1000

Just wondering what 4 pumps you would do for less than $1000? Tunzes???? Or would you do just 2 larger like MP60's?

That being said the COR return pump sounds like it is still in prototype stage...and I am hoping that it gets a major redesign before it sees the light of day, it was definitely bigger and chunkier compared to the Vectra. Since we barely know any other stats about it (Flow, Price) its hard to compare other than sheer sexy factor. If it stays the same in design but comes out for $199....than maybe its worth it to be a little chunkier, either way don't hold your breath waiting for it was the jist of what Terrence said at the MACNA Meetup.

Stash,

I see you have a 60 cube and I would bet that a pair of these is way more flow than you will need. Where the problem comes in is with longer tanks 6ft and up. even with moderate rock/sps in a long tank the flow does not reach everywhere and you end up with dead spots. What you need is flow from many directions. Thus the 4 pumps. Look as some of the tanks with recirculating type system. I am sure the WAV will work for many people but it will not optimal for some.

I do look forward to the COR and it's controllability. I have a 125g remote sump and do not care the physical size.

I'm actually not getting them....at least for my 60 Cube. I have a Tunze 6055 I think.... thats why I was asking. I just happened to be at MACNA and went to the Apex Meetup. Actually I'm Looking forward to using the FMM, finally optical water sensors and even true flowmeters....I'll definitely be looking to get rid of my Breakout Box or at the very least get rid of my old float sensors.

Yep I am looking forward to the FMM also! Will help knowing flow!
