No need to empty it. Just keep the bar clamps on and drop the water level a couple of inches so you can work. Keep the clamps on 48 hours to ensure the silicon has set and held. Two 4" cross braces would be best but more disruptive of your access to the top of the tank, so go with one wide one (at least 6") in the middle.

Hey guys, here is an update.. AFTER a lot of phone calls with DAS aquarium. They hire a local tank maker guy here in NJ. The plan is to put 2 2by 4s and clamp it.. drop the water level 4-5 inches. take the broken euro piece out and replace it. also put 2 cross braces of 3-4 inches each. keep the clamp on. fill the tank and run as usual. after 48 hours take off the braces. how does this sound to u all?
In the mean time i dont know if its because of volume of water or what.. my corals are LOVING the new environment. Things i was about to toss it considering dead. Totally retracted hammer, fungia that had turned completely white.. etc are back FULL to life and showing vibrant colors! Master scoly that i thought wouldnt make it (half retracted and few feeding tentacles left) has come to full life in just 2 weeks.
I started using Korallen-zucht ammino, vitalizer, sponge power, and Xtra special. i dont know if its cuz of that.

Well how do you feel about this? My first reaction is that 48hrs of curing time isn't enough on the repair. I'd be concerned about the strain it has put on the corner seems. Lastly, it's a brand new tank....I would expect a brand new tank as a replacement.

Plus one here. This is a new tank and no one can say with any certainty what stresses the seals have experienced. It's very unfortunate, but potentially a dangerous situation to life and property, not to mention the money spent on livestock. You spent good money on a new tank. I wouldn't think you want a Rube Goldberg fix on a new tank.

Edit: I think the other thing you want to consider is liability and who will assume that should the tank still fail. There is the potential for DAS to want to pass that off to the people effecting the repairs. It could be an issue that would just complicate things. At the very least you will want them to sign off on the work and warranty it against failure.

1. i saw the paper that local guy got.. all the responsibility is for DAS and he is working for DAS as temp employee. really good point tho.
2. steve and bill.. i am going to ask for a brand new tank. u guys are right.. this is ridiculous.

Good for you and don't accept anything other. If they try to balk, let them know that each day that passes puts them closer to a potential liability suit if the tank fails, which it actually already did.
Sorry this happened. You have a really great build going.
PS you can tell that right now, I have no life, as I'm stalking the RC boards on a Saturday night :worried:
Edit: Tell them you'll accept the repair as a temporary measure to protect your home, your investment in livestock and more importantly, your family!
Hey guys. yes tank still in place.. They did the repair. Everything is looking happy and healthy. I will post the pic soon. In the mean time, i am demanding a new tank or refund so i can get a new one (altho this already looks quite sturdy). i will post the pic soon... Now i am collecting fish 
So far the tank has been running fallow. next week will be 10th week of running fallow.
All my fish are in 90 gallon qt tank. Getting cupramine and prazipro. Thanks for the posts guys.
