New 180G!!! WOOHOO!!!!

I think it is for insurance purpose. If you spread them to other reefers changes is that if you crash your tank you can always come back and ask frags from them.

Thanks guys. I don't think it's that big of a risk since essentially I'm using the same LRs, 50% of the old water, a few cups of the LS and the same lighting (and added a third). It's essentially a HUGE water change :D in my eyes and I don't have all the detritus from the old sand bed. I also have hardy corals (nothing delicate) and fish. I'm also running a refugium again so it helps with keeping more stable parameters at night.

So far everything's doing great. I'm getting great polyp extension from the SPS. Actually, I did a test run for about a week on a few frags of monti digi (little more sensitive) prior to making the larger move :).

2 year old teardrop maxima... thought I would toss in this shot :D.

Shullat: Thanks! Yes the Tunze's are opposite from each other and I have to turn them down to 60-70% on interval 1 or they'll blow sand all over the place!! They're so strong the fish seem to have a hard time in the middle of the chaotic surges!! I know interval 2 is recommended but I think I'll have to wait until the new sand is a little more mature.

Thanks,

Minh

Looking great, Minh. :)

Are the chromis schooling? And can we get some pics of the Chevron? I want one. :)

Thought I'd post some sump/refugium/electronics pics and a larger shot of the tank since I discovered photo bucket :D.

Nexdog: The chromis do school loosely but when something startles them (like the streams kicking in) they school pretty tight. You'll see some chasing amongst the group which is interesting to watch and then the PBT or sailfin will zoom by and they'll get back in line quickly :D. I'm trying to get a shot of the chevron but he/she moves so quickly that it becomes a blur :mad2:.

Got a little HA going in the refug . I've got a package coming SAT that'll deal with that :D. 100 astreas and 100 dwarf blue hermits for $99 from etropicals. Not a bad deal. I'll toss probably 50 or so in the refug when they come :D.

Thanks. I got the new crocea from Atlantis Aquarium in Fremont (good price too). I dropped by today and they still had some cool ones including a couple of tear drop maximas (a nice green one too). I got the teardrop from reefermadness a couple years back (that set me back a few clam shells  ).

nice clams.....not trying to be dirty here don't worry.

Am still waiting for my shipment from Tunze....will be starting up the new tankk this week....keep us updated on the progress...

lookng good so far

WOW how time has flown!!! It's been about 6 months since I've posted... bad reefer... bad reefer...

I've been busy starting a new business and just had my 2nd child born in September!!! It's been one heck of a time :D.

Just wanted to drop in some updated photos for y'all. I haven't done much except let the tranferred colonies GROW!!! I've picked up a school of chromis and a new Hippo Tang. My PBT just didn't make it (ICH). It also didn't help that the LFS did hypo (didn't know it until I stumbled into it) on all their fish only tanks that I bought from (I did a 4 hour drip acclimate too!!). I won't try that exercise again or buy fish from them! Lesson learned.

Enjoy! Now back to the baby and business :).
