New 180G!!! WOOHOO!!!!

Wow, your tank is bad ***, I like you aquascaping. What do you use to make you coralline grow so crazy? I have my tank for about 10 month now and my rock is nothing like your?

I'm trying to get into the packing and shipping business.

I think it's all from the calcium reactor. I don't do much to the tank except add evap. water, feed the fish, clean skimmer and harvest my chaeto from the refug.

I started w/ established live rock to the base rock so that probably helped as well. If it was a new tank I would suggest gettting good pieces of established LR to start w/. My other 60G was jump started that way as well w/ the GARF grunge (crushed established LR) but you could do the same by asking another fellow reefer for his rubble/sand. My cleaning crew helps keep algae at bay so the coralline can take a good hold.

I did start my tank with 100lbs of live rock and live sand, do you think the water flow got anything to do with it? My flow come form my return pump and one power head. I see that your tank have some major flow.

What I meant by established LR is taking some LR from another established tank and incorporating it into yours. Not by starting w/ LR that you have to cure, cycle, etc. Also taking a cup of LS from another established tank as well. I started w/ brand new sand and 2 cups of LS from my old tank.

I'm not thinking that flow has too much to do w/ coralline unless you're first starting out and wanted to spread the spores out faster but once the coralline takes hold it's just a matter of time. I think having high/consistent calcium levels is key.

Very nice Minh!!..
I love the rock.. They were all white.. Look at them now and you can't even tell they were baserock .. Great job man..

OOOOOOOOo, i see what you are talking about. My tank is run good and things are growing, i just wish my rock look like your. Hey thanks Minh.

Also Coraline grows better on different types or rock and surfaces.. For some reason Coraline will cover a peice of pvc in No time but might take twice as long to cover the same size rock.. I also knoticed when I set up my 60 gallon that some of my Base rock called lace rock was covered with coraline way before my other rocks were.

In an attempt to get your business of the ground you can start by packing and shipping your tank to my house.

In all seriousness (<- that dont look right), good luck with the new venture and congrats on the new baby. Let me know if you need east coast representation. I would be more than happy to quit my awful job.

Wow. The last time I came by to pick up frags, the tank was still empty. Can't believe how far it's come. I have to say that it looks great. Can't wait to see it in person again.

Nice to see an update of you tank. The coral growth is so impressive. My 90g tank crashed last July due to kalk accident. All livestocks died including corals that I got from you. I just sold my tank last month too. Right now I'm looking for a bigger tank about 96x30x30. Changed the carpet in my living room to wood already too and it is now ready for a bigger tank.

All: Thanks for all the compliments. I tried to make this tank as automated/simple as possible to keep the levels steady and fun factor high :).

xinumaster: I'm sorry to hear about your loss but excited about your going BIGGER :)!! You can contact me any time for frags! You're always welcome to it! That offer is open to anyone else that's interested (frag swaps are welcome :) ).

Mapster: Hey bro... long time since I've been back east. Hopefully I'll see you again in my next career. I hope you were able to sneak that 135G tank into the basement past the wifey :). Good luck to you too bro. and I'll be seeing you on the net!
