New anemone

thanks redvipe2010 might give that a try will it live in harmony with my cleaner shrimp?
samaki, the neon damsel and the clarkii where living together and where going to be flushed so we bought them of a friend of a friend, when we initally put them together i was told there would be trouble but i found the problem to be the neon damsel, he kept shaking his tail at both the clowns, but now they live together really well, they dont generally bother each other but it has been a reason that we havnt tried different fish, i want a box fish but the neon is so aggresive that i darent yet.

10 minutes later its started inflating, and looks really healthy tell me what you think of the pic, i have to give it a chance now!!

Your anemone is a H. magnifica.

It looks dead to me :( Is there another photo that shows it looking really healthy? I am not trying to be clever - I am always saddened when an anemone dies. However your last photo does not show a healthy anemone - not by a far stretch. Based on the appearance of this anemone when you bought it, it looks like it was in bad shape before it hit your tank.

This is what it should look like - not a pile of mush on the bottom of your tank :(

I will be absolutely amazed if it makes it. The LFS should not have sold it in that condition. But good luck cuz you never know...you can also tell by the smell if its going.

Yes just what I predicted. If its H. Magnifica, its chances of coming back is smaller than a drawing the lotto ticket. (Exageration of course but you get the point).

I've never kept a cleaner shrimp. I have seen them together at LFS. But we all know the LFS doesn't always do the right thing. However, I have never heard of anyone having a bad experience with keeping them together.

I use lemon juice to kill my aiptasia. Works pretty well, the butterfly would probably be better, and its pretty too. Yeah Defenitly looks like a retteri, I wish I could find one that beautiful. I REALLY hope it makes it. Do you have any more recent pictures? I've seen anemones come back, I would suggest a water change soon.

Well this morning despite yesterdays activity it was definatly gone, i could smell it before i saw it, better to a big water change over the next couple of days and will test the water today too, fingers crossed the rest will be ok, the mushrooms living near look very shrivled more then usual, thanks for all you advice and a warm welcome.

thanks slakker, ill try again when ive got over this one, bit cross that the lfs sold it without question of where it was being homed, all he said was have you got a mature tank and we said we had been running for a year so he said an atlantic would be perfect, since seeing more pics of the magnifica it was definatly that, next time ill know, and look for a nice easy bta lol, are any of them easy? thanks again neil

Sorry about your anemone. Research everything your LFS tells you. They have been known to tell you just about anything to get your money.

Like you said, none of them are easy but a green or red bubble tip would definitely be easier than a ritteri. Good luck next time.
