New Australia Harlequin Tusk

I got him yesterday. he's 3.5-4 inches. He hasn't showed interest yet and after reading some I dont think he will, atleast I hope not.

Cool.....Good luck with him :)

Thanks, I actually just fed the tank with a Rod's - Mysis blend I soaked in Selcon and him along with his bucket buddy sailfin I got with him yesterday we're on it like white on rice.
He seems a lot less aggro to the other fish now that hes comfortable. When I first put him in there last night he was pretty aggressive towards everyone that came to say hello.

Dave,
I got mine yesterday also and also about the same size as yours. Mine also still have the three false eye spots.

The tusks on mine just start to come out. He seem to be missing one of the upper tusk. Either that or it have not come out yet. I hope he will not grow up with just one of the two upper tusks.

I will update about my HT here. I hope you will do the same

Some great looking tusks, guys!

UPdate...His confidence is SLOWLY coming around. ( Kinda like this hobby SLOWLY ) haha
Able to take a quick pic of him swimming with the lights on. First time I seen him swimming during the day...
That's really good news! If he hasn't already I bet he'll start getting brave enough to start snagging some food soon.

The other tusks are tiny. Like 1/32 of an inch. I hope he will have all of his tusks. I would not like it very much if he only have 5 of his 6 tusks

5" in the first pic, now approx. 7" -and Aussie.

Did your HT lost his L upper tusk or is it just the angle of the shot?

Update: Day 8, still not eating, altho he is starting to come out more each day. This morning he came out after the lights came on, so I grabbed the camera and took this shot.

No live food yet.... ben jammin has had the exact same experience with his, so i'm not to worried. Mine is doing the exact same thing as his did. We both bought them from Divers Den.

Sorry - had to skim to catch up so you may have already tried this but my little tusk LOVES larry's reef frenzy. Mine is not a picky eater either - eats flakes, pellets, everything...but the feeding response definitely picks up when I feed LRF.

I hope your does OK,mine is all over the tank and eating rod's,mysis, and pellets, basically anything I put in the tank.

I've been meaning to do it but after getting the HT and seeing him jumping in the LFS I decided to go ahead and make the screen lids for the tank today. I feel much better now. lolz

little video of him.

What's the lighting situation on the QT? Mine is in a room that has a ceiling fan with only 1 of the 4 bulbs screwed in. Has been that way for 3.5 wks and has been eating since day 1. Do you dose your frozen with anything? I use vitachem, selcon, and several other products to get fish eating and healthy. I only use garlic in a case like yours.

From what I am gathering from the information on this thread is..Tusks that are bought from lfs are a lot LESS stressed then the ones bought on line. Being in a bag of water for 20+ hours, really takes its toll on the Tusks. It takes them much longer to come around. The ones in the lfs have probably already been with them for weeks, and have already started eating. So you don't have to wait it out. After all if it wasen't eating yet at your lfs, you wouldn't buy it...right...

This is definitely true. The LFS had my tusk for 3 weeks and he I saw him eat before the purchase. Its the reason I added him directly to the DT.
