New haddoni Carpet =D

im gonna upload a pic i took early before it had overlaped itself more, and you could see the mouth open, Sorry for uploading it in Default size, it was the only way you can actually see the mouth open, if i shrink the picture its harder to see

here is 1 question i got, since a clown and anemona have a relationship of some sort, is it possible for the clown to know the anemone is not healthy, cause it seems like everytime i try to take pictures of it, he makes an attempt to cover up its mouth..

that or he is afraid of me and just doing natural going into the anem for protection and is unaware it is unhealthy.

Wow that last pic does NOT look good. Maybe something is still messed up with your water chemistry that the haddoni doesnt like. Do you have a QT system that you can put him in with fresh water, or a friend's system?

Zoo' in a haddoni looks like brown clumps and small balls. Was that the zigzag thing you saw earlier? My shipped blue haddoni from DD had lots of the brown clumps in the bag, and continued to expell that during acclimation.

i think the haddoni just didnt like the S. Gig and whatever infection it had... im in the works of setting up a QT tank for it if it gets to the point.

nah it was very distinctive white color..which leads me to beleive internal tissue ... of some sort.

During the acclimation period, up to 3 months, i dont let any clowns near the carpet. the clowns are very aggressive and they dont know they are roughing a tired and exshausted anemone.

based on the pics the nem doesn't look bad. if the nem expands and open mouth, it's not a good sign. in your pics, the nem appear to be looking healthy.

i would leave it alone and let it be if i were you. anything more you do would cause it to have to go through more adjustment and that is not what you want - unless it is looking so bad and you suspect it would die if you dont do anything then you can take a chance by doing what you need to do but for now leave it alone.

btw, where did you buy it? online?

White smoke stuff? That could be sperm/reproduction stuff.

No.. not sperm, tissue.

i've had it longer then 3 months? i know my title is a little deceiving but it was created nearly 4 months ago when i got it.. (just assuming you didnt read it from the beginning) .. and its done 100% fine up until a week ago when i added an S. gig that clearly had an internal infection that was passed to this anemone, and i bought it from a local reefer who had it for 2 years. Its just unusual to me because the nem didnt even deflate this much during acclimation... and the puporse of deflating / inflating is to do internal water changes... which leads me to beleive that something bad.. (like an infection) is bothering him on the inside... hence so many inflates and deflates.. and i agree, leaving it be right now, i was saying if it gets worse it'll be going into a QT tank.. (and its heading into that direction )

and i highly doubt this small A. Polymnus was being too aggressive with an 11'' haddoni...

Still on the downward spiral..

Still on the downward spiral..

he is getting drastically smaller in size... still same inflate/deflate cycle... no more tissue coming out of his mouth.. mouth seems to not open anymore as i saw in the past ... (it only does what it looks like in the pictures now)

im still in the air as if i should be moving him to QT yet... or what..

ive done water changes and carbon... and i know no one here really knows how to cure... or fix a infection for long term success.. so i almost feel like its a losing battle for me =[ and i will more then likely just watch him die :( which really sucks... shoulda never bought that s. gig

I wonder if something is coming out at night and picking at it... I know I startled mine when messing around in the tank and it shrunk up like that... Really thats the only thing I can think of... :( Hope it turns around for you...

Most of these pictures are mid-day, and i wish that was the issue, only something picking at it :( i really hope it pulls around, if he crashes though i already decided im gonna tank the entire tank down for a bit... and possibly move it to the basement or something.. so its easier to do maintance..

my stock list is
2 peppermint shrimp
1 cleaner shrimp
1 foxface
1 Saddleback
1 candy hogfish

and thats it.. aside from snails/crabs...
and all this rock was started out from dry rock, so i know there isnt any hidden unwanted creatures in there....

not for awhile ...i think majority stuff i bought was on frag plugs.. and the mushroom's i do have ive had for awhile, and watched the person i bought em from actually cut them off the rock..

hrmmm i think its just gonna be a waiting for at this point =/ ... waiting sucks ..
was hopin some experts would possibly chime in by now but if it is an infection guess there is nothing to chime in on as their is no proven cure.

i have a blue carpet that behaves like yours. it is 10 years old and there is one period it shrunk and act as if it is dying (i have seen enough dying carpets to know this). i left it alone and let nature take it's course. the only thing i did was to recheck my water quality and saline level......etc... i dont do crazy water changes either....

so after a few weeks it came back normal but is much smaller (like 1/2 size) and until recently it bounced back and looking good as before (knock on wood).

i do try to feed it salmon but small piece each time once a week. i chose salmon over shrimp as i feel shrimp is harder meat than salmon, salmon is softer therefore eaiser for them to digest also salmon has Omega3 fat (i think :) )

more importantly, i removed the clownfish that it host during that period. i have seen that kind of clownfish wedge itself all the way inside the anemone, completely!. now that is not an issue with a healthy nem in nature but for my carpet nem any clown does that will be evicted and be placed in the rose anemone tank where there is plenty of roses that i dont mine to loose 1 or 2. no one mess with my carpet including my all time favorite clowns :)

i hope this helps you.

thats where im at, im just kind of letting him sit and do what he wants.. and i havent seen the clownfish be too aggressive with the anemone.. but starting to think i should maybe seperate the too.. he mostly swims 4'' from the anemone until i walk up to the tank.. then he seems up against it.. never into the mouth though (although ive seen pictures and videos of them doing that)

im starting to really get into infections.. is there more then 1? has anyone ever done signifcant research into infections on anemone's? anyone notice different types of patterns in dying/sick anemone's?

Has it eaten at all since this cycle began?

didnt see that question, but no he has not.. still super sticky to the touch but when i give him some food he just releases it.. =/

so ive tried to go with a finer type food that i got from a local fish breeder that he made.. and let it just disolve and squirt it gently by the oral disc.. hoping he's maybe getting some
