New in the Area

Hey Everyone! :wavehand:

My name is Drew and I just moved from San Diego to Novato. I was referred over here by Gresham from the BAR forums. It seems to me that there are just as many reefers up here as there are in San Diego which I'm pretty stoked about! I have an empty, desolate, waterless, pitiful, sad, 28 gallon glass box sitting in my living room with former glory coralline algae covering the back wall. SO! I plan on getting this system back up and running ASAP! I was spoiled with scripps water in SD and currently have a RO/DI system in a truck somewhere on its way here. Where does all my money go? :hmm3: This time I've decided I'm going to start out with a majority of dry rock so that I can create a scape I actually like this time! Plus I'd like to avoid aiptasia and cirolanid isopods eating my fish alive. (True story) Anyways I look forward to meeting everyone.

Drew

Welcome! Good to see another nano around. Looking beyond the future scape, what kind of fish and corals are you planning to keep?

Thanks guys!

As far as corals go I'd like to do a mixed reef that has plenty of SPS. I'm trying to plan my tank around my projected livestock. As far as fish I'd like to do a dracula goby/pistol pair (keeping them in mind with the scape), a dwarf angel (either a flameback or pygmy), and a blue flasher wrasse. The wrasse may get too big so I'm going to research that a little more. Staying away from a sixline. My last one ran the tank a little too aggressively.

What brings you from SD?

And Welcome!

I'm in the Coast Guard and have been restationed up here. This was my first pick so I'm pretty stoked!

Welcome Drew, you are in luck, we will be having a meeting about aquascaping soon so stay tuned.

Thanks! Thats awesome! Definitely looking forward to that. My first scape didn't allow for a lot of circulation. I'd really like to keep this one open and look good with sps.

Hi Drew, I'm also a fairly new guy.

CG eh? My roommate just got out of the coast guard. Wish I woulda' enlisted, his GI bill makes me jealous. :spin1:

Hey welcome Drew look forward to meeting you. If you need anything give a shout. There are a few of us in Petaluma. I keep a 120 and always have stuff for new guys. Hopefully see you at the next meeting which will be scheduled soon. Grant

Thanks! Yea I'm starting to get a feel for the area. Today I managed to get out to Steve at CRES. I guess I took the scenic route up 116. Awesome drive. First time getting stuck behind a tractor on my way to a reef deal though! :lolspin: I suppose I'm a city slicker hah! Steve is a great guy and I definitely look forward to doing business with him again. I also managed to stop by Jofish on my return. They were decently stocked with dry goods. Probably going to be getting fish food from them. Lily said they get ORA in. Pretty stoked about that too.

Last round on the tank had an azure damsel, pistol/watchman goby pair, and a sixline as far as fish. I knew I would be restationed and went with easy fish off the bat. As far as corals go I had mostly LPS and Zoas with a few SPS. I have mucho grande plans for version 2.0!
