New Life Spectrum Ick Shield

I tried the ich shield food. The first time the fish ate it up big time. Then the next time they took to it and then spit out several times but would not eat any, even tried a different day, but still not eating. Though they did eat non medicated other foods.

So how about you let the people who actually are using this New Life Spectrum Ick Shield give us their results and quit being so pessimistic and rude?

I'm pretty sure people can post to their heart's content without my preventing them from doing so. As I stated earlier, if the food is an effective way to eliminate Cryptocaryon, I'm all for it. Again, I want to see evidence; that's not being pessimistic, it's being skeptical.

Wonder if I could get my money back, they have a money back guarantee, lol.

When did you use the food?

I can only find you posting about using the powder - and correcting someone when they thought you were talking about the food - you said you were taking about the powder...

Even if medicated food would be a possible way to "cure" ich (or more precisely to prevent the parasite to feed successfully on the fish - a somewhat important difference) you still have the issue of getting the right dosage to all and every fish in your tank over a period of 72 days - something near impossible, even if you don't have specialized fish that rather starve to death than touch pellet food.

Now, if it is something in the water like the powder things are different as all (saltwater) fish have to drink constantly saltwater in proportion to their total exposed body surface (including gills). So that way every fish gets roughly the same dosage.
At the same time, if you dose the water, you expose all stages of the parasite to the medication.

My experience with the food was that some would eat it and some never would. The first couple days all my fish devoured it. After a week most would not touch save a few fish that I think would eat rocks if dropped in the tank my personal issue with the NLS food is how do you quantify how many pellets a fish needs to eat to be properly medicated? One, two, twelve? ......and how does the mass of the fish affect the amount of pellets. Obviously my 12" long vlamingi needs to eat more than the anthias. This is of course just an opinion as NLS can't tell you how much they need to eat.

As far as the powder goes, I had to treat my display tank and am having rest results thus far.

Just my $.02

Hi Guys, I am currently treating my 500 gal fish only with CP @1 gram per 18 gallons everybody seems ok but my Tinkers butterfly and my lineatus female wrasse have developed like something on their fins that looks like fragged or splitting can I add any bacterial medicine with the Chloroquine Phosphate?

I believe you can. Search the chloroquine primer, Alprazo started it and lists what he has used successfully with it. Wrasse don't typically fair well in CP... How long have they been in it? I'm sure it's difficult to catch the Roa or wrasse but you should try to if your noticing what appears to be the start of a infection if you can't treat the whole tank. Are they still both eating?

You need to read more... lol

In any event, your statement was that fish won't eat it - when they seem to be eating it...

I did not use the food. I was using the powder, as I believe most of the people in this thread are doing. My fish weren't eating anything so the food really would have been a bad call hah :)

Hi I am back had to step out, thanks for replying back. they have been on treatment for 9 days so far. I will try to catch up on this thread. I read a bout radions LED and UV lights I have 5 Generation 2 on my tank should I have to be concern?

Chopopr you can tune your lights to eliminate uv by turning off your blues and violets and whites. Also need to turn off the skimmer.

Thanks JoelA7, I will do so this afternoon. Skimmer is been off since the beginning. I went to the Chloroquine primer and I read the Furan II was compatible with CP. Can you add something to this, did I get this right.
