That's the moss. It's doin' good so far in my tank. I mist it every night. Hasn't started spreading yet though. I'm noticing some growth in my lemon button fern and gold tips. My Pilea cadieri has shown the most growth spreading. I'm hopin' it spreads to one of the branches.

My 2 $5 fire bellied toads seem to be happy and doin' fine in my setup. I was worried they would destroy the plants (they go crazy at feeding time) but everything is workin' out fine.

Once my brother and his family get settled in their new home, I will be movin' this 10 gal. and frogs there. I set it up for my nephew. I'm definately gonna set up another. Probably a 30 long.

Steve your post was the reason I went to Petsmart just to find that moss and it looks great. I mist mine everyday too.
I have creeping Jennie and some kind of aqua fern I got at Petsmart too. I also have Neoregelia Pink Stripe on the way from Joshfrogs.com along with my fly culture kit.

How long should I wait before putting frogs in?

Yea I forgot to mention I picked up some plants at petsmart. The ones in plastic containers. I forget the name, some kind of grass another cool lookin' one. Says for aquarium or terrarium. I just removed them from the gel and planted them in the soil. They are doin' great.

With that said, guess it doesn't matter if you use soil or not for certain plants when these can be planted under water in a aquarium or out of water in a terrarium. I don't know?

Ok I got my flies in today from joshfrogs.com and it was packaged great!! I am still waiting on my plant I ordered but I knew it would come in seperate. Now I just need to add my frogs in. How often do you all have to start new cultures? I will only have two frogs and I have two cultures with flies that came with the kit and then the goods to make several more.

1 is definitely enough....but its recommended to have 2...for backup purposes...and since you'll have 2 cultures going, make sure to alternate feeding from each...over population is a big cause in fruitfly crashes

Got my frogs in yesterday from gsusfreak. They are doing great in thier new home.

Mine are very small. But I think they are not yet adults. From nose to butt they are not even an inch in length yet.

Hey I dont know if it was already posted as I didnt read the whole thread but someone asked for a website for this kind of stuff. dendroboard is a great start but its mostly dedicated to poison dart frags. There's a great yahoo group as well - the naturalistic vivarium group.

I love that website. I have tried to get some kiind of chatter going there with the Tennessee people but no takers :-) Looks like we have enough interest that we could start some posts on there. Seems like all the clubs and get togethers and sellers are too far away.

Looks GREAT! I love tincs, but I'm reading differing information, how big are you all's tincs?

they're the bigger species compared to other darts...but still very small compared to other frogs like the ones you see in the stores

Ok so I have my tank and my frogs and enjoying both. I have it as gravel only on the bottom and have my little pump under the gravel. I have on large hose running off the pump along the bottom and then I have two hoses running up from that along the back one on the right and one on the left behind the black foam background. The one on the right was run through the Mopani wood and running off the branch. That one is still fine and running well. The one on the left was towards the top just coming out of the black foam background and my original intention was for it to just run down the background across the mopani wood I had in the background but when I turned everything on it was shooting out in an arch into the tank. So I thought this could work I will just put some large stones where it is landing to cut down on the noise and it was great. Then this morning I woke up and it was not shooting out anymore it was just running down the background. I was ok with that but now just two hours later it doesnt seem to be coming out at all from the left side. The right side still seems fine. I just keep shaking my head wondering how am I going to figure out whats wrong with it since everything is covered up and run behind the background. Any suggestions.
