I ordered a green online and had a bit of bad luck with it , they sent me a purple and a blue as a replacement , here are the pictures .

For anyone that followed the other thread about the green , i was called into work so the wife had to sort these out , she wouldnt know how to set up a qt so they both went into the Dt , i didnt really feel it would be that much of an issue as they were both in the same tank at the shop anyway , they both seem super healthy and both have already eat and taken rs mysis out the water column , they both have firmly shiut mouths and plenty of zoo .
I also dont have any Cipro atm as i couldnt get hold of it in the uk so had to order from the us .

I hope you have better luck this time!

Keep in mind that sick gigs could go downhill slowly, I've seen them go three weeks before external signs were evident. One gig I had took a month to die. Definitely get your QT tanks ready as you've previously planned.

I'm confused how did you see them go 3 weeks before if no external signs were evident?

They look fine for the first few weeks and some actually seem to improve and try to eat, then start to go downhill, beginning with a deflation/inflation cycle (we call this the "death march"). I can map it out since I've seen it so many times (with first hand experience prior to Cipro):

1. pastel color, which actually make them look nice when the color is even without much of a brown tinge
2. spitting out small, rat-poop-like, waste (dead zoox)
3. tentacles short, almost like a healthy haddoni
4. balding, as if rows of tentacles are missing
5. center near mouth appears bald
6. begins to deflate, first on a regular basis, usually around mid-day, but inflates again
7. unable to hold itself upright, appearing limp
8. mouth begins to gape (not to be confused with simply open -- the difference being that an open mouth is still tight around the edges, gaping means the mouth is lose, the nem appears not able to close it, innards can usually be seen)
9. starts to look like a "puffy-pancake" as I call it, where it is flat, but inflated with tentacles semi-inflated.
10. deflates more and more, inflates less and less, and physical size diminishes
11. loses its ability to hold its foot on the substrate
12. nem dies

I've also noticed that clowns will try to nose dive into a sick gig, and they don't do this to healthy ones. Also, they'll stay with the gig, rubbing against semi-inflated tentacles, right until it's removed from the tank.

Thank you for the in depth explanation, no deflation yet but it's still early doors, both planted there foot straight away.
I should have the cipro soon and have ordered some stuff for a qt, I have been looking and some people have qt more than one together, I assume this is because it's worked out on cipro per water not each nem, is this correct? They both have alot off zoo so hopefully they won't have lost any to rot inside them.

I hope you have much much better luck as well but D-Nak is absolutely right.. It's not uncommon to get a gig, think they look great, put them in DT and within 3 weeks it seems to be they go down hill, and QUICK..

As luck has it, our two gigs were not treated at all and came from the same tanks at the wholesaler as Ptr's and another local reefers who ended up treating some of theirs.. So it can spread, and if one of those two is sick, you can bet the other one might get sick as well.

Good luck, keep us posted... My tank never seemed complete until it got a nice full time Gig.... now all I need is a blue.......

Darren how did you get a free blue and purple gig as a replacement to a green? Seems nuts and a huge loss to the supplier lol

Can you pm me who you got them from? Cheers

Those guys look great for being fresh arrivals. Get the treatment tank set up anyways. Best of luck, keep your thread updated!

Not atm mate , unfortunatley really fglat out with work so havent had chance , i will get some taken asap , they are both still looking good with no deflation , they both shrink down maybe 5-10% on an evening but thats it .
