tonyf- what hertz does your electrical run at in OZ? I know that stateside with 60hz you often get greater performance out of pumps than overseas, like the Eheims for example.

drock59, page 24 pics. page 21 mod. thats all i've done except
for the metric to standard true union, which probably wasn't
required. same as the flowmeter. choke the air knob, same air pressure as wide open. only starts to go down when air is nearly
all but shut off. save your money. less air~ less bubbles more
flow required. more air ~more bubbles less flow required. it really
doesn't need much tuning. bubbles seem the same size either way, remember it gets chopped up by the same wheel. works
good enough.

mine is finally skimming nice and thick.. I have around 350gph going through it and my air is turned almost full...maybe a slight turn of my flowmeter knob... and my gate is all the way open, what is up with that, what a waste of money that mod was :) I guess if I needed to skim wet I'd need to close the gate a tad..but I like to skim dry..

man, ghever i have 180 gal total i just checked my flow & i'm
running 220 gal thru the skimmer. maybe i'll cut my washer
down some to see if i can increase air intake.
naw, i don't think it's worth the effort, maybe when i clean the pump out in the future.

i was just going by what people earlier suggested.. they were saying 400-600gph for the RPS 3000.. but if you guys are getting better skimmate using less, maybe I should look into that..

hmm...well, guess I can look into using a maxi 600 or 900 then... if I can find a fitting to get it to fit the 3/4in tubing... what are you using??

Pyrrhus, our power is 220V at 50 hz. There is a drop in performance as you allude to but it's almost negligible. The factory specs air flow at 600 L/hr. Maybe the venturi is drilled crooked or there's some pvc shaving in the hole.

you're no help at all.. hahaha...well, if I can find a way to connect a maxi to the skimmer, I'll definitely do it... but I think I should be ok for now...not like I am WAY off on my gph...i'll have to remember it for my new tank.. which will have about 200gal total water in the systemm...so will need 300gph there...which is about what i have running through it now...

People need to let this thread die. STOP POSTING!
I been thinking about getting the largest one of these for sometime now and the price has seem to increased in portion to the buzz on this thread. Seriousily these skimmers are only to be talked about in whisper SHHH!

Crap I posted the skimmer probably went up a few bucks.:rolleye1:

Nah, still holding tight at $399 at reeftanksupply

ghever, I'm using a maxijet to feed my skimmer. If you take off the outlet nozzle (the piece that holds the diffuser), 1/2" ID tubing will slip right one, just use a clamp. I then used a section of 1/2" tubing and a 1/2" x 3/4" barb adapter from Lowes.

oh well...hahaha..

all you guys that ordered the flowmeters...they were either sent out late last week or today... USPS...so be on the lookout for them.

1.5 days down and still no foam forming and holding.

I have noticed that the small bubbles come to the surface and pop unlike my beckett inwhich the bubbles don't pop on the surface.

Had to crank up the beckett again as the ORP fell out of the bottom of the tank :-). Now running both skimmers in parallel. The beckett foamed up in 5 minutes and is pulling vile gunk!

The popping bubbles worries me.

Anybody have any idea on how to overcome this?
