*NEW* Sequence Skimmer - Any Interest?

Jeremy B
Did my skimmer get droped off at the airport today?
I have not received a email with a aircargo #yet

I think I read that a feed pump of 400 gallons an hour is the ideal size is that correct? has anyone tried to run more through it? My total system size is just at 400 gallons and i would like to turn more like 1.5 or 2 times total tank per hour through the skimmer.

Randy,

I think Luke got everything straightened out with you on the shipment, correct?

400-600gph would be optimal for flow through on the skimmer.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Yes on the shipping, so you dont think 600 gallons would be to much i was thinking about feeding it with a ehim1260

Randy,

I am gravity feeding a little over 700gph thru the skimmer and seems to be working well during break in. My system is about 350g net. I am going to experiment with less flow to see how it affects performance. My ORP has gone from 380 to 420 since installing the skimmer on Monday evening!!!

Luis,

Glad to hear you are doing that successfully. I was wondering if someone was going to hook one up that way. Keep us updated on how it's working!

I connected mine via gravity feed, the tank is a 600g reef reasonably well stocked. The skimmer takes all the water from one of the two overflows.

Within 30 mins there was a clearly defined green foam layer forming. After 1 hr there was an inch or so. Overnight the entire top of the column was a mass of dark dry foam that just gets pushed up and over into the cup.

The foam is very stable, doesnt collapse when the lid is lifted. In fact you could probably scoop it out it is that thick.

A most definite two thumbs up.....

now this may be just wishful thinking, but I am sure my water looks clearer.

you mean it will work even better than it is now?????????

My unit reached peak performance at about the 3 week mark. Of course, I was tinkering with it a lot too, I seem to have that problem! lol

Update On New Model!

Update On New Model!

I have received word that I should be expecting a prototype for a smaller Reeflo within the next 4-5 weeks. This unit will incorporate a Snapper needlewheel, rather than a Dart needlewheel, and will be smaller in diameter and in height. I will keep everyone posted on the unit as I get more updates!

Geeze...I wish the new sequence skimmer came out 6 or 8 months earlier. I ditched my power hungry dual beckett for a Deltec 851, but for a little more $$ I could of gotten one of these...hmmmm....wonder how much I can get for my used 851...hmmm.....

The 851 is nice, but it doesnt match the performance of the dual beckett, but it does draw about 1/5 of the electricity. Looks like the sequence skimmer might be a better fit, and still draws ~1/3 of the the power of the dual beckett!

So I got the skimmer yesterday and its a beast! Got it set up and running to break in for a while. my first question is my only feed pump i had available is rated at 740 gallons thats almost double compared to what Jeremy has been recomending. and it might be the reason I am geeting large turbulant bubbles on top.
here are a couple of pics

Mine looked like that on start up, then after an hour a stable head of foam developed.

I would take the easy option for now, let it break in a little more and then, if still like that, slow the flow a little.
