i really don't think it's broken in yet. There are still bubbles stuck to the chamber walls ... and in the cone .. little more time.
I'd say another 24-48 hours till it'll be there.

And most, if not all of the green tee in the bottom of the collection cup if from this morning on the LR bin ... i shut the air valve for a minute, to check the level w/out air. then opened it on full - that made the foam head come shooting over into the cup for a few seconds, until it lowered to normal levels ...

When i turn the air back on after maint I always do it slow like 5 sec time to ensure " my cup don't runnith over"

yeah, thats what i came to figure out as well. this pump is killer!

Yesterday I increased the flow through mine, just to see......

The result was a whole lot more skimmate. Im guessing that I still have not hit the maximum flow through this unit yet. I was happy with what it was producing before.....now its working even better.

Did I mention I was happy?

Paul.

Paul,

how did you increase the flow? approximately how much are you flowing through it now?
I'm just using a Rio 1100 right now ... wayyyy undersized.

I just placed my 270 yesterday and still not ready to hook up the skimmer but I was thinking of running my drain through it. does anyone know of a flow meter I can hook up to it?

I increased the flow by opening a ball valve on my overflow to allow more water through the overflow. My tank has 2 overflows so I can vary the water flow through each independantly.

Im guessing I am around 400-500gph right now.

...personal preference... ?!
... application ... ?!

The ATI is in sump only, if i remember correctly - I don't have room in my sump for such.
Customer support - Sequence/reeflo has pretty good support, and they are the maker of he recirc pump on these skimmers.

I have no first hand experience with the ATI skimers - i heard they work very well.
When looking a few weeks ago, their short warranty turned me off - they have however upped the warranty, as it was announced in the ReefGeek forum - THIS POST .

I believe some of the decision could be linked to the 'coolness' factor of running a modded/needlewheel 'dart' as a recirc pump. :D

Take care,

marco
