*NEW* Sequence Skimmer - Any Interest?

build quality
recirculating skimmer
this skimmer is massive in size
dart needlewheel
Also if it gets jeremy's recommendation it has to be one crazy skimmer
and last i need a new toy
Are you debating too on which to get too?

These are the top 10 reasons I chose this skimmer for my reef:

- The shear power and reliability of the Dart based Reeflo Needlewheel pump.

- External & Recirculating

- Performance/Design

- Has the ability to be gravity fed.

- Not much more power consumption than my old dual Eheim name brand German skimmer.

- Virtually no noticeable heat transfer from the pump.

- Build quality. Cell cast acrylic throughout.

- Quiet

- Plug and play

- And last but certainly not least...the customer service I've received from both Premium Aquatics and Sequence.

I've also heard that the ATI skimmers work well, but because it didn't meet certain criteria, I never even considered one. IMO it's one of those "apples and oranges" comparisons!

Oh yeah...I forgot one more reason:

Pricing is NOT based on the Euro exchange rate!:D

well i think getting rid of the thumbscrews on the neck and adding some type of wet neck feature would make this skimmer awesome

i think eventually the thumb screws will become a PITA, my old MRC becket drove me nuts after a couple years. Seems like a small sacrifice for such a cool skimmer though

wetneck .. those would be nice to have ... but from what i hear ... a PITA to make work properly and efficiently.

I have to say .. i was very skeptical about the thumbscrews ...btu they are not as bad as i'd have expected them to be. there are only 8 of hem. 1 turn on each, and you can twist & lift the cup right off ...

I more than likely already know the answer to this, but would an auto-waste collector work on this thing? I'm assuming yes.

Well it would in the since you could feed into a bucket to collect waste.
It would not work like a beckett waste collector were it shuts down the skimmer if it gets full.

Why buy this as apposed to a ati bubble master 250?

Mainly what most other people said, however simply put - This skimmer will run circles around a BM 250. The BM 250 is a nice little skimmer, but it wouldn't come close in performance with this skimmer.

How do the Sequence skimmers hold up against the Bubble Master line of skimmers? Which model of BM will be comperable to the Sequence skimmer?

Jeremy, any info on the Small sequence skimmer?

The BM's do not have a model out right now that will come close to competing with the Reeflo. The BM300 may be close to competing, but without it being out and running yet, no one really knows. The BM 250 IS NOT comparable to the Reeflo. That keeps coming up and I can not stress it enough.

The smaller model prototype should be in here soon. That one should be more comparable to a BM250.

Thanks,
Jeremy

How about a comparison with Bubble King?

The Sequence is kind of an oddity, in being that it's a dirt cheap skimmer that performs as well as skimmers that are 50% - 300% more in price than it. If you're looking for "bang for the buck", you're not going to find anything else out there that will beat it.

If you want the elite, the pinnacle of protein skimmers in overall build quality, engineering, efficiency, etc, basically everything wrapped up into one unit, then Bubble King is the answer. If you averaged out "star ratings" in 10 different categories in ranking protein skimmers, the Bubble King would have the highest average star rating of them all.

Thanks,
Jeremy

yea i read that too mike but I wanted to know which ones are comparable. I am sure the minis are not true competitors, or are they?

By body size the 300ext would be my guess. They are almost identical.

The BK 300 ext pulls 400lph less air, but also runs at half the wattage according to the numbers listed on PA's site.

You should buy one of each and do a comparison. :p

I don't know, the BK I saw didn't look all that well built to me.

Wow!? Really?

I have seen quite a few skimmers out there in person, actually I think all of them that are popular (excludes the new KZ skimmer), and I can't think of one that looks better built, or more well put together than a BK.

Of course Klaus' $1M investment in all those high end American cnc machines probably has something to do with that! ;)

Having said that, this Reeflo is no slouch by any means in terms of how well it's put together. The new owner's of this beast can attest to that!
