looking fantastic, rodney
what k value are running the mitras at?
does your program change the k throughout the day or keep it the same?
thanks!

hey Matt, im changing the K constantly throughout the day, i keep it low during the morning to afternoon to get some growth...not the nicest to look at but not too ugly. then from 6pm for peak viewing i put it around the 18k mark i think from memory to get a nice color tone

thanks rodney.
what's your rational for skewing the k value that way?
I think of midday as having a lower k and the sunrise and sunset as having progressively higher k.
ive always thought of midday sun as being 6500k with the bluer end of the spectrum being more present as the sun moves to and away from its apex.
i guess i feel this way because its the blue spectrum that travels the farthest and therefore would be more present, for longer..
just thinking out loud here..

im doing like you posted Matt, during the middle of the day to early afternoon have a lower K value and bump it up to 18k for viewing in the evening

Such amazing corals Rod! Very nice! You must have a lot of rare and show pieces at your LFS since every freakin spectacular coral comes from there, no?

The video is cool too. Do you really set up the storm mode for your photoperiod? Doesn´t the fish go berserk with that?

What coral is in the video at 2.23/24/25min? Is it A. Plana?

André

thanks guys was a bit of fun making the video, first time doing it so had a laugh putting it all together....im a DJ so thought id make a dance party out the the tank lol

the yellow tangs have a scrap every day when it comes to bed time, the bigger one is a bully and belts my achilles around aswell.

no refugium, just run rowaphos and carbon in the sump with a large skimmer. other stuff makes the sump dirty IMO.

Hi Andre, I grow all mine from frags...well 95% of them. I go halves with brother and sometimes a few mates and take a snip. I like the way they grow better than adding a colony to the tank.

the fish dont even notice the storm, they swim around normally...but no i dont use it in my photoperiod. just for fun when people come over ill hit the button. not sure on the name of the coral.
