New tank with LED light

Tank updates look great.

Thanks for trying all the new stuff, so the rest of us don't have to.

Funny how you kept your T5 fixture for back-up instead of your illuminata.

Hopefully you will be getting more than six months out of this new LED. In fact I would love to see you (or anyone) get six years out of it.

Please keep the updates coming.

Some of the colors look flat to me........not as good as your T5 combo or
what I"ve seen from T5's.

Red table----I'm not sure the timing of switch back to T5 but the more colorful table is from 5/11-- post #58

I zoomed in on the one shot to give a better one to one comparison. The blue tips don't seem to be as intense & there is some bleaching on the inner parts of the table.

Yup that table looked better under T5 for sure, I also had a dumb moment where I didnt turn the CR back on after a water change...Alk went from 8 to 3 in a week....lost color and some acro TN but saved, so the tank isnt looking the best but here some new shots, table is getting some coloration as it gets acclimatised to the new light

Rodney: it appears that GREEN, BLUE and PURPLE colours do well under LED. But RED, YELLOW and ORANGE tend not to do well under LED's...regardless of brand etc.

However, generally, your coral colours look very nice. I suppose give the tank another few months at least perhaps the colours which may be lacking now will get better once everything becomes more stable etc.

Many thanks for keeping us updated. Have a Happy New Year mate. :)

Your tank looks great. Sorry about the CR mishap but it happens. Hopefully in a few weeks everything will be back on track as your parameters get back on level. I'm confident that the sudden drop in Alk has a lot to do with the previously mentioned color issues. It will bounce back in no time :)

still looking good, rodney
there does seem to be a saturated 'glow in the dark' look to coral under t5 that isn't there with the leds..
purely easthetic, though..
the coloration still looks fantastic as does the coral health.

yeah the Achilles is a pig! eats pellets, frozen brine, lobster eggs, nori...it eats from my hand when i hold a frozen cube in the water :)

I will Matt soonish, i pulled out my fine sand over the past week and have a coarser grade coming so once thats in ill put up some new FTS

Cool..
Not to go to far off topic but l'm just wondering why you pulled the old sand. Flow issues?
Is the new sand heavier?
Im still debating using sand at all in my next tank..
