NH Fish clown fish breeding room build

I'm going to start a clown breeding room and post as things go along. Total capacity will be six 40 gal breeders (some with dividers) and one 40 gal breeder sump. Follow along if interested. Let me know if I can improve anything. always looking for new ideas.

I started the breeding setup. I got a couple of the 40 breeders drilled and the backs painted. Also got the dividers painted. For those who have never drilled a tank, put a bead of plumbers putty around where the hole will go and put a little water inside to cool the bit. I drilled for 1" bulkheads.

I started to put the stand together to see how things fit. I reinforced the cross members. I need to level things off and I will put 3/4" square aluminium uprights in the center between the shelves to help prevent sagging

Started working on the overflow plumbing. A tip when having to align a few t's and elbows is to dry fit everything first and mark the depth of the pipe into the fitting and the orientation of the outlets before you start gluing things together.

love it so far, if I am able to find buyers for my fry I have now maybe my wife will let me do this to get a couple more pairs :D

These are the overflows I will be using. I have one on each side of the tank in case I want to divide them.

Looks awesome. I heard raising fry is very hard. Have you done this in the past? I can't wait to follow this. :)

Looks good so far. May I suggest adding union connectors? If you ever want to pull an individual tank offline, it'll be hard to do so without them. I'm building a rack as well, but plan to have each tank attached with a union connector so I can remove the tank in case I want to do a deep cleaning or want to make adjustments.

any reason you chose to install the bulkheads the way you did, i would be worried that they may leak as water can travel through the threads right out the back. which is why they are designed to be used the opposite way.. i would hate to see you get it all set up and have a constant drip at the back of some of the tanks.

Good observation. The tanks are so close to the wall that I would not be able to get at the unions from the back. If you look closely at the bulkhead fitting, you will see that the nut is on the inside. This allows me to unscrew the bulkhead and remove the tank. The Street elbows are not glued in and are removable. This also allows me to adjust the water level by swinging the elbow right or left depending on which side I want to lower or raise.

As for the bulkhead being reversed. I have rubber gaskets on BOTH sides of the bulkheads.

Thanks guys, this is the type of feedback I'm looking for.

I plumbed the return lines. Each of the 6 tanks will have a manifold as seen in the pic. Pipes run in the wall to keep things tidy. I ordered some loc-line with shut off valves and nozzles to finish off the returns.
