I currently have a Nikon D70 with the following lenses:

Nikon Nikkor 70-300mm 1:4-5.6G lens
Nikon Nikkor 18-70mm 1:3.5-4.5G lens

I am just beginning to read up on this camera and was wondering...what can I do with these 2 lenses?

Anyone have example shots using these lenses?

Is there a good website or book where I can learn more about how to use these lenses?

I am shopping for a point and shoot because I want to have something easier to grab for quick shots, but I wouldnt mind learning more about this camera.

Anyone?

Thanks!

The kit lense(18-70mm f/3.5-4.5) is a superb lense for tank shot. Not macro stuff but it can do alot in your tank. Just keep on shooting.
You can click on my little red house, and go to the reef section. Some of them are shot with this lense.

Thanks to both for the replies.

After much research I am going to sell the D70.

I am looking for a nice point and shoot with good macro capabilities.

I have a Sigma 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 APO DG Macro, which is just about the same as the Nikor. Here are a couple of topics that I have posted in which I used the 70-300mm lens.

-Dog shot, Weimaraner - http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=853498

-Dart Frogs (taken with the Macro switch on the lens) - http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=853496

Overall I think the lens performs very well if you have a steady hand or a tripod. Most of the photos in my gallery ( http://lionheart89.deviantart.com/gallery ) are taken w/o a tripod.

Shot with the 18-70:3.5-4.5 on the D-50; I've only had this lens for about two days now.
