Nine peppermint angels!!!!

People risk their lives in jobs everyday for a lot less than what he could make in a years time just on this fish alone. ......

i think you are simplifying things into a basic math equation. soo much go's into getting in the water with catch nets, especially at these depths. this is a specialized skillset, specialized training, specialized research, specialized experience and a bit of luck all rolled into one.

Catching a fish in the open ocean, or on the reef at any depths is not an easy task,

the lowly damsel will humble you easily.

Catching a fish in a tank is not easy think how it is in the sea...

Rufus,

Thanks for sharing and congrats on an amazing feat. I think the majority of us understand the risks and difficulty of collecting these specimens. The reality is that whether or not someone makes a lot of money or a little money on these fish is irrelevant. They are a rare fish that is difficult to collect and for those that have the money, worth the cost.

I'm enjoying living vicariously through them :)

I just re-read that and it came out wrong. Dave had tons of checks on his system and had a very flukey issue that resulted in some losses. You ca't plan for everything, but you see these guys with amazing tanks and alot of their success comes from great planning.
Sure, but at the end of the day, there will always be fish that the old adage applies: "If you have to ask..."

Nice Video,

Good to know that these little ones aren't too bossy. So everyone that was holding back on buying them because they were worried about putting a harem of 3 or 4 together can breathe easily :)

Big Kudos to Koji for posting all these videos for us to envy.

I'd love to see one in a reef tank environment, especially an SPS tank. I'd gladly risk all of my colonies just to see it. Talk about an insanely colorful tank!

so what makes these fish 20,000 bucks? yes they are beautiful and yes they are hard to get but why 20,000? that is as much as my motor cost in my car. i think i need to find a new job so i can buy expensive fish :(

^^^ this & you've kinda answered your own question, lol. More importantly, there only what 9-12 available maybe on the planet right now, so it's like getting one of 10 special edition lambo's produced. Same principle supply & demand type stuff. Honestly, I'd think they'd be worth more.

if they are so rare shouldnt we keep them in the ocean? so we dont over fish these and make them even more rare..

just playing devils advocate

not sure about the devil advocate.

but they are rare as if you go snorkling, you wont see them. you would need to dive 400 Ft to find them . There arent that many ppl going 400 ft deep on daily basis. nor yearly basis.

Also, catching a fish on the surface, would COST alot less, than having to get a team together and go to places on this planet not that many ppl have gone to.

yeah, these fish were caught between 365 and 485 feet down...how many people on the planet can dive that deep and collect?
