Nine peppermint angels!!!!

Report
My pep was gone yesterday! Very sad! It was well fed and the condition was good before it was gone. I just want to catch its tankmate(another juvenile angelfish) out of the false decoration. I think that it is the right timing to do such action because the pep is well settle down(I guess). The tank was turbid a little while as a result of that. May be I stirr up some aptasia? All the inhabitant of the tank is fine except the pep. Hope that I will have a second chance to own a pep in future? Hong Kong is unlikely to import this fish again! I am quite familiar with the local fishshop in Hong Kong. They said that they will not import such fish again due to its high price and fragile! The conclusion of my limited experience is that pep is a very delicate fish. Not only diet is a major problem! It must be well plan like Hedgedrew before to acquire one. It is my last report on this thread.

Sorry to hear.

You can be sure HK will import Peps again , especially if it will be collected by the same collector.
I know there is still demand for the fish, at least 2 more specimens.

As you know one shop was holding 2 specimens for a few weeks for their new owners and could sell them a few times .

I hope you have better luck with your next Peppermint.

This one looks pretty good to me. There were survivors and some of them are doing very well. This was really the first time they were brought up in a group so people are still learning. Hopefully next time the mortality rate will drop, and then drop some more.

So what do we feel was learned to improve the mortality rate next time?

some feel fresh seawater is the way to go initially which is very hard for most to pull off...that they should be given live foods immed. to get them eating..temp of water the last batch was caught in was considerably warmer (76 degrees) than the 71-72 degrees that was thought a previously held belief...some others I can share later or others may add...

Read through most of this thread.. This species was new to me so I was definitely intrigued. So to sum it up from what I saw, price range was $10-$20K, of the 9 imported, at least 6 have been reported dead?

Does the shop in Orlando still have theirs?

I may have missed it if this was already linked, but it is a great video:
