Put the wet end "glass side" down on the table. Press down and turn counter clockwise. The base will come off and you will see the screw to remove the rest of the parts.

Thank you eric, I can not get the base to turn more than 1/32 of an inch -- guess I will soak it in vinegar and see if that will help.

I think the twist is only about 1/4", then the part lifts straight out.

purchased a mp10esW yesterday that was made in may 2010 with a dryside louder than anything I can think of. Going to be ordering the bearings here shortly and will let you guys know how it goes.... Thinking about ordering the bearings that shaggss used from ebay.

I ordered the bearings for the MP 10 from RC bearings.com. They came in, it took about 15 minutes to change them out, and my MP 10 is as quiet as ever. The bearings are stainless steel part number SMR687ZZ.

Got mine in yesterday,same ones JAustin used ,and I give them thumbs up. Pump is quieter than ever. It took roughly 20 minutes to fix. Ten of those minutes was spend with the shaft in the freezer to facilitate removing the bearings.

I've noticed people using different bearing for the mp40's and I don't which ones I should pick.

For the sake of a few extra dollars, and to attempt to get the best result, I opted to buy Grade 5 Stainless steel bearings from Boca.

I am completely happy with the result, but I dont know how much (if any) worse result would be got from cheaper bearings....but you usually only get what you pay for !!!!

This fix has saved my marriage! I had a noisy mp40 and an angry wife, I did this fix yesterday and now my wife is happy! now can someone post how to fix the wife to be silent like my mp40...
