I don't think anyone on this forum is trying to sell corals to members. That would be a rather large effort for little to no return.
Medium to Large farmers are typically wholesale anyway. They let the LFS worry about bagging corals and dealing with customers who kill corals.
I think what some people don't get is that there are no trade secrets to this. We all try to mimic the ocean (ideal environment), so the bar is already set. You will not do any better than that.
Sharing information is just a way for us to rate reefkeeping techniques and equipment. Sharing information is the honest, non-commercial side of reefkeeping.
Don't get me wrong. I'll listen to anyone's idea. I think a guy with a 5 gallon bucket (not picking on your dude) for a prop tank is interesting, and I will walk away with some knowlege when reading that thread. But I also want to see the thread by the wholeseller with the 3000sq foot greenhouse. That guy has A LOT of information that I will find interesting.
Discouraging that wholeseller from sharing information because he sells corals for a living is NUTS. And if you disagree with that, you can stop reading this message, and go back to burning books, blast fishing, or whatever you do for fun.
Remember, wholesellers who tank raise corals are the future of this hobby, and all those fancy RC sponcers who sell live caught corals will be out of business soon.
