not the most cost effective greenhouse you ever heard of

Awesome GH! I can't wait to build mine, though making min wage at an LFS it may take me a couple years to save up the money, lol. Glad you took lots of photos as well.

I didn't read the entire thread, but just out of curiosity with the amount of money you spend on supplemental lighting and the electric, have you thought about spending $200 for a light meter to answer the question of whether or not you need them?

"I had a ton of flat worms in that vat durring that pic and it seemed to feed the lps,fwiw" Interesting comment. I've been trying to fight off FW perhaps I should try keeping LPS. I wonder if anyone has observed or photographed a LPS consuming a FW. Do you know what type of flatworm it was?

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I am still here just have a little break from work as I watch a tropical depression form right off my coast.Gordo you are very right about the light meter ,I should have one but....I have cut the supp light totally off so they are all natural light out there now:D The flat worms I had were just the plain old red ones that are very common. They have gone away from here and I didnt ever have to do anything they just vanished.I took some pics a few minutes ago so here they are....Neglect seems to work just fine;)

I haven't tested the water . I haven't done water changes. I only feed and water top-off. Some things are responding well . My focus is off on the acro's but I think the growth is obvious:D

Glad to hear you've gone all natural... with the light, lol. Cool that the flat worms disappeared as well. Perhaps you have less nutrients in your tank now then before? Or perhaps the nutrients the worms survive off of, or that their prey survive off of, is being absorbed by something else in the system like macros. Shrug.

It is so awesome flipping through the pages of this thread. I really appreciate that you have took the time to share it with us on the forums. I have heard many times over that you never understand how well things grow until you see them for yourself. I can now say I have at least had a glimpse.

Keep an eye on the xenias. I could see them quickly becoming a weed in that sort of system.

I can't wait until I get to plant some mangroves. Things are a little crowded right now and I don't have room for a proper set up for them.

See, all you needed to do was step back and not work so hard trying to move the mountain to Mohammed instead of vice versa!
{an old proverb}
Nice to see you are still in action!

I find the same thing. If i just leave my tank alone it begins to look better all by itself. There is a point about4-5 weeks when things look ugly and then things turn around on their own and looks good. Maybe just curtail your fiddling around and concentrate on the main items with an hour to"play every once in awhile. I find at my shop this works for me also gives me a mental health break to know that if I am just fiddle farting around and don't really have to make a buck it is more of a hobby
